Interview with Quentin Carter
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Drake. So much talent and versatility.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't give up
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip hop, RnB
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Melodies, Loops & Samples
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the bounce of course!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with the base melody and build up the track from their. If I'm building a complete track with an artist in house then I'll start with a snare or clap to establish tempo, then build around that.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I enjoy minimalism in my studio. Too much clutter turns my creativity into confusion. I only like to keep the laptop and monitors in view when I cook up. I use midi keyboards but I don't like them directly in front of me. When its off to the side I feel better.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am heavily influenced by Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, SupahMario and Boi-1-da. Two seasoned vets and two young legends that I look up to.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work done would have to be beat production.
