JD 77 is a multi-genre producer, songwriter, vocalist, composer and DJ from Los Angeles, California.
He began his musical journey at age 7 singing classical music as a boy chorister, before adding DJ-ing and producing to his repertoire in high school. He has over 20 years experience as a DJ, vocalist, and producer and is knowledgeable in both classical and modern music.
He specializes in indie, classic hip-hop, trip-hop, ambient, and lo-fi, and can produce and compose music in almost any genre including classical, and film soundtracks. He is a prolific artist with a catalog of over 100 tracks spanning many genres (all available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, etc) with hundreds more awaiting completion.
He works quickly, and can turn an idea into a fully completed song in a matter of hours, mixed AND mastered.
His music has been featured in several major motion picture releases (Blockers, True Memoirs of an International Assassin), and has worked with film composers Brooke de Rosa and Kevin Lax (The Last Purge, Agents of SHIELD).
He is inspired by classical composers such as Maurice Durufle, Palestrina, and William Byrd, and jazz artists Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, and Miles Davis. His current influences include Noah '40' Shebib (Drake), Sounwave (Kendrick Lamar) Thom Yorke, Phinneas (Billie Eilish), Tycho, and Mark Ronson.
