Ryan was great. We needed some string arrangements for a track in a 'Quincy Jones style' and he understood immediately. The arrangement had emotion and energy and really brought the song to life. Cant thank him or recommend enough!

I engaged Ryan to produce mix and master my first single and I am certain that Ryan is a musical genius!
The piece of music he produced for me is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever heard. He took great care to properly mix and master it.
Furthermore Ryan is a joy to communicate with - clear, always positive, prompt and respectful.
I highly recommend working with Ryan and would gladly work with him on other songs again.

What a pleasure to work with Ryan! His technological abilities are unmatched. Although we were 6-7 hours apart in time zone (Me in NY and he in UK) we were easily able to communicate and accomplish our goal in a short amount of time. The final product exceeded the expectations of my team and I. Bravo Ryan! I hope our paths cross on another project soon.

It was a great pleasure to collaborate with Ryan for a mixing and mastering work. When a Mixing and Mastering Engineer is also composer and arranger you get all talents combined together which can only lead to a wonderful outcome.

Ryan is the "consummate master" when you want someone in that producers chair looking out for your best interests. Extraordinary string work; as well as provides sound alternatives when you've hit a dead-end road. Looking forward to working together again.

Ryan has been a fantastic song writing partner and collaborator on my last album and on the next one too. He’s uniquely talented and has such a great feel in what he does and never seems to run out of ideas. Not only that but he’s a kind, clever, all round good guy who is supportive and really inspiring to work with and brings out the best in those around him.

Working with Ryan has been a wonderful experience as a song writing and singer. Songs I have written have been brought to life in the most incredible way all thanks to the vision and creativity of Ryan. Finding a producer and composer than understands your voice and sound has been challenging for me, but Ryan has always been able to bring out the best in my sound. Together we have written and released a number of songs over the past 6 months, and I'm excited to continue writing more with him in the future!

Ryan and I co-wrote my debut album, "Arcadia" and multiple singles since, but he did all the orchestration, programming, mixing and post-production too. He's absolutely brilliant at coming up with the original seed for a song and then working with a co-writer/artist to develop that song to its fullest potential, and as is demonstrated in all the songs we've made together as well, he specialises in epic orchestration and production whilst giving each song a timeless feel. The success of our collaborations speaks volumes about his abilities. He is the original architect of my unique sound...

Ryan is an incredibly gifted producer and composer who knows the potential of a song quickly after hearing the bare bones and brings it to life with his epic orchestration and mixing. He is incredibly easy to work with and offers great insight when you’re stuck on a problem. The end result of your work together is always album or film-quality gorgeous. It’s been such a pleasure writing music with him and I highly recommend him to any artist out there who wants to work with a true professional.

Interview with Ryan Louder

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: Andrea Bocelli

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That I am a track writer only. I am a prolific lyricist and melody writer.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: There are a million great dance music track slamming producers out there hire them if you want that. I only want to write timeless epic pop songs that require traditional orchestration and will not date and will sound fresh 20 years after they were written.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I bring expertise in shaping and completing a song idea to the maximum that idea can be. I also can deliver very complete arrangement and a full score so can be performed live.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Clients come to me because I specilise in big orchestral pop productions. For eg I am currently producing a orchestral version of Anastacia's hit "Im Outta Love" for her greatest hits album. I mostly co write with artists and I do this usually by sending track ideas for them to top line. If they need help with lyrics or melody then I can step in and help with that too.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: Continuing writing with Dido. I have just finished producing and co-writing a song with Anastacia for end credits to a hollywood movie called "American Nights". I also have orchestrated a full symphonic version of "Im Outta Love" for her greatest hits album. I am writing and producing songs with Ashley Serena Freya Catherine Imogen Brough and a new artist Katelyn Goudie.

  13. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  14. A: I co wrote Dua Lipas first song "Lions Tigers and Bears". This is still on her you tube and sound cloud and she credits me for co-writing her first song. Even though it never got on her debut album understandably as it is a ballad. She lacked confidence and didnt even know she could write. I showed her she could write and helped shape her ideas into a beautiful timeless song. I also did this with Pixie Lott which did get on her million selling album "Turn It Up". I am especially proud of Dua Lipa one because it is like planting a seed developing and helping an artist write there first song and it is a pivotol moment in any artist career as confidence can be easily crushed by the experience if they get with an inexperienced producer cowriter and producer. I take it as a privalidged position to do so. To know she is the biggest artist in the world now is a proud moment for me as I was an important but tiny part of the road to her goal.

  15. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  16. A: I havent looked if Im totally honest I have very little free time outside of work.

  17. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  18. A: Digital (I didnt even know that was still a thing) Too many producers mixers get too geeky and lose perspective on the overall beauty. Picasso would grab any materials around him that day to create art. He couldnt care less about what the paint was and where it was sourced. I take that approach when producing writing songs. I have had analogue consoles and gear and I own just about all the plugins that exist but I could get by on the stock plugins of a DAW because the goal is the beauty and emotion of the song and you can create that with just about anything if you keep that idea and perspective in mind.

  19. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  20. A: To give them world class music production

  21. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  22. A: Helping artists achieve there musical goals and seeing there excitement when I do that for them

  23. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  24. A: How to get to market myself as an artist? My answer is to first of all create music and release and to not procrastinate about doing so. Do not be afraid to make mistakes as you are much more likley to gain a fan if you show all of yourself rather than a version of yourself.

  25. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  26. A: What are your hopes for our collaboration

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: Sheet Music, Piano, Sibelius Studio One rigged Computer, B&W Speakers, U87 Mic

  29. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  30. A: I have been producing and developing artists for 20 years.

  31. Q: How would you describe your style?

  32. A: Epic Orchestral Pop Music

  33. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  34. A: Learn to hate mixing then you will become a good mixer and you won't over mix.

  35. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  36. A: Epic Orchestral Pop Music

  37. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  38. A: Epic Orchestral Ballads

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: I co write songs with the client. This happens either by sending a song track for them to write a top line to. I often send at first piano track ideas they write there top line and then send me vocals. I then arrange the track around there top line. Once track is complete I send it to client to rerecord vocal if necessary then I mix and master song for release. My role is to fill the gaps so if an artist struggles writing lyrics then I can step in and write lyrics with them or for them. This is the same with melody.

  41. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  42. A: I run a Studio One and Pro Tools HD Rig with Black Lion Master clock B&W Nautilus Diamond reference speakers and also traditional NS10s. My rig runs through 2x TRINOV SBT2 Room Correction system (the same as Abbey Road Studios Use) for unparalleled accuracy in monitoring

  43. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  44. A: Producer Mutt Lange and Composer John Williams being the two most influential musicians in my life
