Whats up guys, I go by Pryme and I am from Philadelphia. I started out Engineering first when my friend built a small studio in his room for less than $300 and we used the closet as a booth. At one point, he didn't have electric in his house so we ran extension cords into my room next door so we could have fun and create. (We both had the back rooms). Since then, I have mixed and mastered 100’s of songs. I take pride in each Artist that comes to me for work. I love being apart of the Sound Creation. I'm not that Engineer that just pushes buttons and asks for your payment, I literally create the song with the Artist(s). If I hear something that can be done better I will tell you :)

The studio was very unprofessional, it had a mold smell from a water damage. Weed was being smoked heavy although I don’t smoke. I felt totally uncomfortable and they refuse to refund me my money.
He has a lot of potential and skill already. Did a live recording of me and my band which was outside his comfort zone. He handled It well and sat down with me to try different things as well as make sure I was happy with the final product.
I’ve worked with Pryme Sound for a few years now as an engineer and producer. His dedication to quality is uncanny. His versatility is exceptional. And his hunger for success is what keeps him humble. One of the dopest engineers in the city.

Interview with Pryme Sound
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I am doing mixing for a few different artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: As of right now majority of my work flow is digital just because it’s easier to access, and travel with. Analog always has a gritty/ authentic feel to it but, they have come pretty close to the same sounds with digital as of lately.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients is to always be fair, and communicate as much as I can. I am as authentic as an entrepreneur online as I am in person it is very important.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The thing I like most is when clients allow me to explore my creative freedom when it comes to their songs. There is a certain level of trust that comes with that and it means a lot to me.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What is the difference between mixing and mastering? My answer to that is always; mixing is making all the instruments and vocals blend in with each other, where as mastering, is taking that song and leveling it as a product for different platforms making sure it sounds identical in $5 headphones vs $100 headphones.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception I would say is that engineers are miracle workers. Now although I will do everything in my arsenal to get a song to sound good, there are limitations where something will just have to be redone. Autotune does not fix everything, you still have to perform it well!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your deadline for this song/ project? What is your budget you are working with for this song/ project? Do you have any reference tracks you would like me to hear to get an idea of your sound? What direction do you see this song/ project going to?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice would be to bounce out each separate vocal/ instrument as WAV file and label each file what they are. For example, if you bounce out adlibs label as “adlibs”. If you bounce verse doubles label it as “verse 1 doubles”. Compress a folder into a zip folder containing all stems. This allows me to open folder up and know what is what right away.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Yamaha hs10s, UAD Apollo twin, my laptop, MIDI keyboard, and headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been mixing music for 10 years. As a career, I am an EMT for the Fire Department. Music is my passion more so career. I will be doing music for life paid or not.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Vibey, lots of reverb and echo, lots of layers bouncing each direction in sync with each other.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think me and Justin Bieber would make some hits, just because my style of engineering and producing matches his style.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Force yourself to finish songs good or bad because the chances of you finishing get lower every day.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B singers, rappers, pop artists, some Spanish.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Tuning
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring cohesiveness to a song. Blending everything together to sound good.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I organize all stems in my project file. I then start with the loudest parts of the song and work my way to the small stuff. I start with comping vocals, and EQ. Followed by tuning, compression, De-Essing, saturation. Followed by effects such as reverb and delay.

A: I have 2 mics Neuman TLM 103 and Neumann U87. I have a UAD Apollo twin X. I have Yamaha hs8s. I have a UAD 6176
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mike Dean is inspiring as well as Chris Lord- Alge. Dave Pensado has been an inspiration.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do would be Song Mixing. That includes, editing the song for best arrangement. Leveling all instruments and vocals. Mixing all instruments and vocals to sound great together.
