Interview with Isaac Koshy
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm buzzing for my 1st album releasing on 14th February 2020. Being an individual artist, I wrote, recorded and produced all the songs on the album by myself in my room.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I released 3 songs so far and finished my 1st album which is set to release on 14th February 2020.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am relatively new to this platform and I do not know anyone here. I'd love to get to know the people I work with.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog when it comes to instruments since it brings out the emotion of the song. However, digital DAW's have simplified the recording process overall.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to put my 100% effort into whatever I do.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I grew up listening to music all my life and the fact that people can relate to your music is mindblowing.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: For how long have you been singing? For how long have you been producing? What genres of music can you produce?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what I do would be, people think I was born with a beautiful voice. However, It's just years of practice.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your budget? For how long have you been singing? For how long have you been producing? What genres of music can you produce?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: The genres that I'm strong at are rock, acoustic, and singer-songwriter. I'm not a big fan of hip-hop and EDM.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would carry my laptop, Scarlett 2i2, a mic, my guitar, and my keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I am currently in my final semester of engineering. Having a recording setup in my room, it's very convenient to record or produce whenever I can. I would like to make music my main priority. I've been playing the guitar, keyboard and singing for just over 10 years. However, I have been producing music for the past 2 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is mainly rock, acoustic or singer-songwriter.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: My dream is to work with Finneas, Prateek Kuhad, and Lewis Capaldi.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My one music production tip would be, always give the highest priority to the song mixdown. A bad mix ruins the final product.

Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I taught myself to write, compose, record and produce a song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually record my songs on my voicenotes app initially. I then record all the instruments into FL Studio and then record the vocals over them. I finally mix master and produce the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use the Scarlett 2i2 2nd generation studio bundle which is connected to my desktop in my room. I use FL Studio as my DAW software and I record all my songs with my physical instruments and not the FL Studio software instruments.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Some of the musicians that inspire me are Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan and more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I can sing, write, produce (on FL studio) and play the guitar and the keyboard.
