He helped record my first track ever named Spaced. It turned out better than ok could've imagined. He was very patient, understanding, gave his honest opinion and advice if necessary. I will most likely continue more projects with this guy hands down.
I had a pleasant experience working with Alphaman, he really made the extra effort to make sure I was satisfied. I loved how the song turned out!
Extremely professional and top notch quality. Loved working with someone so talented with mixing and editing! Really takes the time perfecting everything.
Interview with Alphaman
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The track featured on my page is a song I tracked and engineered fully.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on building my name as a hip-hop and pop producer.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is tracking and mixing a song. I spend a lot of time on my mixes. The more time you spend on a mix and focus on detail, the better it will sound.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Set up, record, track, edit, mix, final touches, then I master the mixdown into the final compression and stereoization.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: People in my area come to me a lot for studio time. I do a lot of mixing and mastering of peoples' songs. I've done commercial voice-over work as well.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by big hip-hop producers such as Metro Boomin, 808 Mafia, Southside, etc. As far as EDM producers, I'm a huge Skrillex fan. I'm inspired by Purity Ring, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, and Diplo.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use the Yamaha HS8's for monitoring. I use Pro Tools 12 software for mixing and mastering my music. I make my beats and instrumentals in the Native Instruments Maschine software. I have the Maschine beat controller and the Komplete Kontrol S61 midi keyboard. I use the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 3rd generation as my interface. I use an AKG C214 large-diaphragm microphone. I have a custom Sweetwater music and video production PC workstation (Windows 10). Of course my equipment is subject to change and/or increase throughout my career.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring the best quality that I can bring. I always focus on client satisfaction.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mostly work with hip-hop artists in the local area. I'm willing to push the limits and work on other genres of music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always get the recording and tracking precise. A lot of producers will say, "Oh, we'll just fix it in the mix." Wrong! You can't make up for a bad performance in a mix. The better the performance, the better the mix will sound. It's a step-by-step/creative process. No step is less important than the other steps.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: As far as mainstream artists, Drake for sure. But, I would like to work with any and every artist possible. I'm your biggest fan when you're in the studio with me. I will make you become a better artist to the best of my ability.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is constantly evolving the more work I create. I would describe it as a dark and edgy style. It's very emotional.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I love computers and I love music. I work with CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) machines at work, then I get to come home and work with music on my computer.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my microphone, interface, 2 small monitors, and my computer.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Try to be patient and trustworthy that you'll receive satisfactory service, or your money back :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I want to know exactly what you want to get out of my services.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People think that the process to making a song is extremely difficult. I think any skill can be learned as long as you're passionate about it.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love manipulating sound and frequencies to my desire. I think music is so intriguing. You can really make something sound exactly how you want!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to always put my clients first and see through to their satisfaction for my services no matter what.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I think a mixture of both is necessary. While the digital world is always evolving, changing, and improving, analog outboard gear will always give you that same nostalgic sound that you're looking for. Analog never changes. Your analog compressor/EQ will always give you the same result every time.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask me if I know how to use cool effects and techniques that the big artists use. I tell them that there’s nothing I can’t learn or figure out; so, yes.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I am new on SoundBetter and would love to meet with new clients and potential customers.
