I'm Daniel, a 28 year old Music Producer from Portugal. Have been mixing and producing professionally for 10 years. Studied audio engineering at SAE London and won a student version of the Grammys for "Best Recording/Mix" out of 600 entries in their 40 campus world wide competition. After my studies came back to Portugal and opened my own studio
I work from my own private studio, offering mixing, music production/writing and beat making services. As many revisions as needed to get your vision and message across your songs!

Interview with Daniel Rodrigues Studios
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A rock project that i recorded and mixed for my brother's band. A final mix of that got me a grammy related award, from all the 40 something SAE Audio Engineering campuses around the world, there were 600 entries to the Best Recording/Mix and i won. Had a great week in L.A. Also produced the track with the band, even though i didn't submit in that category.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It's an ITB set up, Pro Tools HD as main DAW (beat making is done in Ableton) with plugins from most of the biggest brands including UAD. ADAM A8X speakers as mains, Alesis m1 for nearfields. Command 8 control surface and Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro Headphones.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Is there a rough mix for reference? Are there any mix references from other artists?
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Working on the album of an MTV EMA Best Portuguese Act nominated artist, a single and a new artist's ep.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Don't really know
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Why can't we have both?
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: All my attention and intention in making your songs sound the best they possibly can!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Making people feel something through the air being blasted from the speakers.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: But will it mix? Yes it will, nicely.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask as many questions as you'd like and make as many mix notes as you'd like.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Pro Tools UAD API 2500 Cigarettes U87
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Started playing in bands and would usually record them when i was 16. Persued studies both in Portugal and London geared towards audio engineering where
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern sounding, aesthetic.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Files get sent back and forth through Wetransfer or any file sharing system you'd prefer along with mix notes. I like having a skype call to talk about the songs and what you're looking for. In terms of revisions i don't really count them, i like the process to be interactive, not just "here you go, a mix". This way we work towards achieving the sound you want from the get go.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Plenty of people from all over the place!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing is what i usually do, but since i started working with pop music and producers i've started producing and making beats myself. Also do recordings in my own studio.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Balance is key
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My background is heavy rock music but also work with a pop/electronic music oriented management company.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like to think i bring that extra vibe or livelyness the song needs to get the message across. Make it groove.
