I am a mixer engineer specialised in blending different genre's together with as common denominator "pop music"
Robin Hunt (1984) is an award-winning mixer, engineer and producer from the Netherlands, working both in the Netherlands as in Berlin.
Within half a year, Robin found himself working on Thomas Azier’ critically acclaimed debut album ‘Hylas’. The succes of the album in France brought new opportunities. Always eager to learn, Robin decided to jump in the deep again and moved to Paris to work as an ‘engineering producer’ for the freshly founded Universal Africa department in studio Ferber, owned by French legendary producer and mixing-engineer Renaud Letang (Feist, Jean-Michel Jarre, Manu Chao).
After three years in Paris, Robin decided to move back to Berlin: ‘I founded a production and artist development team called Atlas with two longtime friends. After years of working together we decided to make it official, combining our experience for songwriting and A&R, studio and live.
Nowadays Robin spends his time between mixing, engineering and (co-)producing: ‘I absolutely love finishing songs and help the artist to amplify their sonic vision. Sometimes a song is on 80%, and it’s a lot of fun to finish the track; the vision is almost there and I can come in with fresh ears and suggestions. Other times there are multiple versions of a track that I have to blend together, cherrypick the best ingredients of a song.

Thank you so much! - check_circleVerified
Working with Robin was such an enjoyable experience - he immediately instilled confidence, was really personable and willing to help with anything I needed and he went above and beyond my expectations. Robin really loves his work, treats your music as carefully as it is his own.
The communication was absolutely great too and I definitely would love to work with him again! All in all a solid 10/10 experience, highly recommend!
I really enjoyed working with Robin. Even though we don't live in the same city and have never seen each other in person, the collaboration worked very well and smooth. Thanks for the two amazing mixes, Robin!
Je vous le recommande.
Robin est toujours à l'écoute, il possède une très bonne oreille et il sait comment ajouter les éléments qu'il manque à vos projets musicaux.
Je pourrai travailler avec lui toute la vie.robin is one of the best mixing engineers/(vocal)producers i have ever worked with. absolutely love how he managed to finish productions(made by different producers) while keeping a consistent sound for me as an artist. i also did most of my vocal recordings together with robin in his studio. it was always fun, comfortable and every time i got exactly what i was looking for. he’s one of the most fun people i know and he always gets the best out of me, 100% would recommend!
His humor, relentless energy and positive attitude literally dragged me through it. This is someone who will always arrive before you and will always leave after you. It is someone who respects and trusts your process, listens to you and walks with you over long distances to the finish line with heartfelt enthusiasm. All in all, difficult to find someone like Robin, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done so far, and to call him my friend.
Because this is often so far off the beaten track of the pop world, he surprises time after time, regardless of the genre he is working in… Robin often comes up with unique sound design and additional production which is hard to copy.
Mixing often reveals production problems, and even though this process of improvement can be tedious, Robin will continue to search with you until you find what you are looking for. In the days of Hylas (2014), my debut album, I was going through a hard time and without Robin I would never have been able to finish it.
First of all, Robin is terribly honest, which seems to be rare. Not only will he tell you if something gives him the feels, he'll also tell you if he doesn't feel it, if he doesn’t understand your directions or if he can't do something.
I have always found that his sincerity quickly ensures an open and honest relationship, based on constant reflection, communication and benevolence.
As a creator Robin has a unique musical background and identity. Producing Dutch hardcore while studying with hardcore-legend DJ Promo, there is also an enormous pile of unique knowledge inside of him.
Interview with Robin Hunt
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: All sound is analog in the end.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer, soundcard, monitor set, acoustically treated room, 1 multi-pattern microphone :)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure you have 1 harmonic sound which carries the songs. Like a synth, guitar, piano or whatever. So that the vocal works with that one part from beginning to end.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop music in a very wide definition of the word.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Not stopping until the result is the best possible.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the rough mix through and through to understand what and why it feels good and where it can be improved to enhance the feel and vibe. I also check references of other artists to which the music could be related to. I approach mixing as a method actor. Doing the research to find out "how is it supposed to feel". This is my motto as well.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work in the box with additional hardware. I have a real plate and echo chamber which I like to use and some outboard gear. It's all very easy to use in my setup. Besides that I can work in 2 studio's with my single DAW so I have access to 2 different rooms with different speaker setups which I know be heart. Main thing is workflow for me; it has to be dependable and quick.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Too many to name. If there is something I like, not only music production but also painters / chefs, I dive into it and see what I can learn.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Finalising existing producing by mixing and sometimes additional production work
