Interview with Canonblade
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, because it's more accessible.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always try my best to deliver anything my clients requested.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The fact that I always make something new. Creating something unique everyday is a very fulfilling emotion.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Good active monitor speakers, laptop, piano keyboard, and cables.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been making electronic music since the mids of 2012. I released a couple of "beginner tracks" and then upgraded my sounds and productions, which led me to getting nominated for one of the best tracks in a video game in 2019.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Energetic, euphoric, easy listening, uplifting and sometimes heavy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always mix your sub-bass in mono.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: EDM, Heavy Bass Music, Dubstep, Electronic, Trap, Future Melodic and Pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing, I'd say.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Life, emotions and energy.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Open my DAW, listen to what my client needs and writing down elements that come to my mind. Then i try to visualize the final product and i get down to work to get to the result i first imagined.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I got a Komplete Audio 6 as my main audio interface. I got a 32 key KompleteM32 as my midi keyboard and i mix on some sony earbuds which ironically have a really great frequency range for mixing (mixing has been improved since i started using them).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Skrillex of course. Zomboy, Fytch, Excision, Slander, KDrew, Nurko, Trivecta, Varien, Two Steps From Hell, Pegboard Nerds, Virtual Riot, Barely Alive, Fox Stevenson and many many more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually mix and design sounds for my clients. I have also produced a couple of tracks and instrumentals.
