Soulpersona

Soul & Jazz-Funk Producer

Soulpersona on SoundBetter

Warm, musical mixes for soul, jazz-funk and groove artists — Billboard-chart credited, UK-based.

I specialise in production, mixing and remixing for soul, jazz-funk, rare groove and groove-driven music that values feel, musicianship and warmth.

With nine albums released and a Billboard Jazz Top 10 credit (Tanya Nolan – Like Water), I bring a musical approach to every record. My work has received airplay support from BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 1Xtra and Jazz FM, and I’ve produced and remixed for artists including Charlie Wilson, Jody Watley, Princess Freesia and Change.

My approach is simple: preserve the emotion and groove of your track while elevating clarity, depth and impact. Whether you need a polished mix, creative enhancements, or a full rework with live instrumentation, I focus on balance, dynamics and tone — never over-processing, never sterile.

If your music lives in the world of soul, jazz, funk or neo-soul, and you care about musicality as much as punch, I’d love to hear it.

Send me your track and let’s elevate it properly.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Soulpersona

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: My promise is to deliver a polished, release-ready record that elevates your music without compromising its soul, feel or identity.

  3. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  4. A: Clients usually ask about timing, revisions and how involved I’ll be creatively. I adapt to what the song needs — whether that’s subtle polish or more hands-on production input.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: I ask about the artistic vision, key reference tracks, release plans, timeline and what they feel isn’t yet working in the song. Understanding intent is essential before making creative decisions.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Know the emotional direction you want the record to communicate and provide clear references. A focused vision and well-prepared sessions allow the mix to elevate the music rather than fix avoidable issues.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I’ve been producing and mixing professionally for over two decades. I began as a musician before moving into production and remix work, releasing nine albums and working with both established and independent artists across soul and jazz-funk.

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: Soulful and groove-led, with an emphasis on warmth, live feel and musical balance rather than over-processing.

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Less is more. Leave space for the vocal and let the groove breathe — clarity and impact often come from restraint, not adding more layers.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: I primarily work in soul, jazz-funk and groove-driven music. Alongside producing my own albums, I’m regularly commissioned for remixes and mixing projects for artists seeking warmth, musicality and a strong rhythmic feel.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: My strongest skill is preserving the emotion and groove of a performance while elevating clarity, depth and impact in the final mix.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: I bring musical sensitivity, groove awareness and clarity. I focus on enhancing depth, dynamics and vocal presence while preserving the emotional core of the performance.

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Most of my work involves mixing and creative production for soul, jazz-funk and groove-based artists who want warmth, depth and musicality in their records. I focus on preserving feel while enhancing clarity, dynamics and impact. This often includes subtle production enhancements, arrangement input and, where needed, coordinating live elements such as horn sections to elevate the final result.
