I am a mix engineer with 6 years of experience. I started off as an intern at Bethel Church in broadcast audio. A few years later I branched off into FOH and monitor mixing. Thanks to great teachers and colleagues, I grew to absolutely loving to mix in any format. I love to bring my passion and adoration for the movement of music to artist's music!

Endorse Jony Duran ProductionsWe are a small church in rural Washington and Jony came in and tweaked our live sound and it sounds incredible. Our church has more than doubled in size since and every Sunday we have people who can't believe how much it sounds like Bethel/Hillsong, etc. He also took the time to mix us down post production and has sent us several songs that sound amazing. Jony is exceptional and very easy to work with. He is very good at both Live FOH and post production and understands a tight budget. Give him a try, you won't be disappointed! We love Jony...you will too.
Interview with Jony Duran Productions
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My single It's You I Long For is the project I'm most proud of thus far. I co-wrote the lyrics and music, I produced and mixed it. I love that I had a hand in every process and that I brought in friends to help me. It sounds exactly how I envisioned it when I first wrote it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on a few acoustic songs I wrote and produced. I also am mixing a couple songs from a bethel worship night for fun.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Tai Mahawon! He's a great guy with a lot of experience!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog is almost always better in any aspect of music, but nowadays digital is getting close and so I don't mind using plugins
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to give you a mix you will love, and if you don't, I will work until you do!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: In the scope of worship music, I tend to approach a project with a Rock vibe.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Elevation Worship because they have so much energy in their songs! But more realistically, I would like to work with a church that has a solid vision and heart for worship.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My tip would be to take time with shaping the tone of each instrument. Make sure each instrument compliment the others
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I mainly work on worship music, but have done work in pop music, as well as singer-songwriter acoustic projects.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing is my strongest skill. I have a great template that gives me consistent mixes, whether they be live or studio sessions
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I love to bring out the energy that was in the room. I enjoy mixing live sets because crowds add a lot of energy. I also enjoy polishing tracks so they can sound great together.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use the studio at my church (Bethel). We have Barefoots Micromain 45’s. We run Pro Tools with most Waves plugins along with Bethel's iconic snare sample.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a big fan of Bobby Strand's production works. As far as mixing, Chris Greely and my boss Luke Hendrickson have been huge inspirations.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Post mixing live and studio sessions from Houses of Worship.
