I am not certified by a record of gold or platinum. I have not been rewarded with a Grammy, nor does it generate millions of streams behind me. However, I'm 24 years old and decide a day to be able to work with the biggest and especially to make the mix of an artist at a higher stage.

My name is Franck Michel, I come from Geneva in Switzerland, I make music since I was 8 years old. I graduated from SAE Institute College in September 2019.
The registration here allows me and I will be able to offer mixes able to compete with world-class engineers from around the world.

When I like music, I like listening to it, over and over again so that I can hear every detail of it and learn to perfect what I do not master yet.
I listen to a lot of French artists such as English, American or Dutch, it allows me to adapt and adapt my mixe to the artist.
I want to feel the emotion through my mixes.

I am a very creative engineer when I feel that the song allows it. I can try some things that will go or not and I really believe in my musicality. The number one goal for me is that in the end the music sounds as if it had been mixed by one of the greatest and especially that it follows the wishes and intentions of the artist.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The project I'm most proud of would be the one with The Resistors because of one it was my project of end of study and two it was bad that it was a group of friends that I wanted to record. Basic for the drums, I wanted to replace the kick and snare with a sample but finally I managed to make sure that the kick sounds the best and for me I managed without the help of a sample but for the snare was more complicated so I had to use a sample. I am quite satisfied with all of my work on this project which took me some time. The only point that I did not handle correctly is the voice because I had to record it in haste and so the false notes could not become just notes.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On my own projects as well as some orders. But SoundBetter will allow me to work with international artists and because of this, this platform will allow me to improve myself in my passion which is my job.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I guarantee perfectionism, creativity and dedication. Deadlines are also at the top of my priorities. There will be no negativity, I really try to make everyone happy every time. That's what I am and that's how I want to live my life.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To be able to mix new artists or artists already established in the music industry. But above all I would say, it's the sound that goes in my ears.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The question on delivery is the most frequently asked. And the answer is 10 days or less.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: There is no wrong idea so far for me. If it is necessary to clarify something, I am willing to do it positively.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask them if there is anything I need to know about the design of the song or album. What is the idea behind this, the essence of intention. Then I ask them if they want something in particular and what are their main concerns.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I think the best thing to consider is how the provider will help in the music.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing music at the age of 8 with the drums. At the age of 17 when I had my rock band, I started to get interested in the world of music composition. What allowed me then at the age of 19 to return to the SAE Institute of Geneva and bring me for my project of end of study to record, edit, mix and masterize, one of the music of The Resistors which is a friends group. During my study sound engineer I was also able to record, edit, mix and master a music from the band The Crew now called Olsen Jake.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: The word that people use most in my work is "clean". My mixes are really clean but aggressively and / or soft.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say my sense of listening.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clarity and all my knowledge to make the music at a better level.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: The configuration of my studio is relatively basic. I'm working on a Macbook Pro 15 "At the end of 2013 with a UAD Apollo Twin Duo I have been working in the same room for 6 years, that I know perfectly and that I can translate my mixes to compete with world-class engineers! a pair of M-Audio BX8 placed vertically.For the mix I mainly use the plug-in from Waves but also those from UAD and many others.This seems limited but I think we live in a time where that is possible.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the time I do the mixing because it is what I prefer to do in my profession but sometimes I have another project around the videos and also the request for intrumentale.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: David Abrantes, because these mixes are really very good.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I would say both but the digital is still far from emulating the analog, however I work mainly in the box because for me it is a gain of space and also money because the analog can come back very expensive.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my Macbook Pro, my Apollo, my Beyerdynamics DT 770 Pro, a pair of Barefoot MM26 (which I do not have yet) and my iPhone.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with a multitude of artists, but if I had to choose 9, I would choose Avicii, it does not really matter (but the problem is that he died), Martin Garrix, Nekfeu, Ed Sheeran, Drake, Calvin Harris , Charlie Puth, Selena Gomez and Post Malone.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When you work your Kick and Sub, so that the two coordinate well, added a compressor on the sub. On this one, you will put as parameter the following settings: If your compressor has a side chain, choose kick as a side-chain instrument. For other settings set your Tresh to 0, the attack to 30, the ratio to 3 and the release to 2. So with these settings your kick and sub will sound like in the productions of today.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on Electro, Hip-Hop and also Metalcore however I would love to work with Pop artists see Electro Pop.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I start working on a new project, I first organize my session with the drums, then the bass, then the guitars (if it's a Rock session), then singing, then these tracks are redirected to a main mix track which is my Mix Bus. Then I make a quick mix to see how the mix can sound at the end. Then I start.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Charlie Puth is one of the artists who fascinates me the most because he does all himself, being also an audio engineer, he manages to pass a multitude of producers to be able to create these music. And the second is Post Malone because he brought something new to today's Rap.
