Jamie Andrew on SoundBetter

Lead singer/songwriter and music producer for British Alternative Rock Band Heyzeus. 4 Million + Video Views, 100K+ Streams on Spotify. Happy to lay down some killer lead rock vocals, write you a top line, or help you produce a full on rock track with all instrumentation. New to Soundbetter =)

Hey there!

My name's Jamie Andrew.
I'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist, and music producer based on the Scottish Borders.
I write and produce all the music for my alternative rock band 'Heyzeus'.
My partner Jess, often described as the 'female Dave Grohl' is an incredible drummer, and can also help you if you need some awesome punchy drums recorded for your track.

I have a cool little home studio with all pro gear, where I write, record and produce all the Heyzeus music, as well as other musicians projects I'm currently working on.

I've taken my music all over the world, including some top gigs at places like the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, and Ibiza Rocks.

My real talent and best service for you would be my vocal ability, and my songwriting. So If you have a track you'd like some awesome killer lead vocals on, I'm your man! Vocally I often draw comparisons to Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics, Kurt Cobain and Layne Stayley.

I'm new to sound better but have already had the privilege to work with some top guys on here including Marc Urselli (Foo Fighters, U2) and Andres Mayo (2 Time Grammy Winner)

Looking forward to connecting and creating some awesome music together.

Jamie.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Jamie Andrew

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I guess my new release coming out very soon called Warm Milk. With the after effects of the pandemic still lingering, I chose not to fork out for a mixing engineer, and instead, did everything myself apart from the master.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: New music always.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Andres Mayo is a top Mastering engineer, who I've worked with on my latest release 'Warm Milk'. He's so attentive to detail, and a top pro.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both. Because.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will do my absolute best to help your song sound absolutely kick ass.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Singing is such an amazing release for me.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Are you Jesus?! (Heyzeus means Jesus!)

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I'll come back to this one!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What is your vision for this project?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Without blowing my own trumpet, there aren't many vocalists out there like me, so I will do my best for you =)

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: My tangle wood acoustic, a cajon, a 3 guitar picks because I always lose them!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been singing and writing music for the past 16 years!!

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Rock, but definitely cool rock, commercial edges, catchy songs, flavours of the 90s.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Dave Grohl. What a legend.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less is more. But sometimes you need more!

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Rock, alternative, grunge and crossing over into Pop and some dance flavours too!

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Singing and Songwriting.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Big Energy, strong vibes, creativity, passion, and very stand out cool rock vocals!!

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Whatever the moment needs most. I am super creative, very devoted, and always give each project or song I'm working on, my all.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a small but totally self catering professional music studio from my home on the Scottish Borders. My got to DAW is Logic Pro X, I use an Apollo Twin audio interface, but also use the Focsurite 2i2, and even my trusty Behringer UMC404HD! I have a gorgeously beaten fender Strat, a Gibson J45 although I normally always record with my Tanglewood acoustic! To lay down my vocals, I use a Shure SM7B; I mean, Michael Jackson used them after all!

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I grew up on Nirvana. But also love the 90s vibe in general! Grunge, Britpop and a little taste of anything from the heart.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Laying down some killer lead rock vocals. Songwriting and producing a super cool rock/grunge/pop track.
