Q: What's your typical work process?

A: If you'd decide to give our high-quality mastering a go, here's how the process would feel like. 1) Please email us at basementsound.fi@gmail.com, then 2) we'll contact you asap, maybe ask a few questions, and confirm if the service can be done along with some time estimates. If you feel like the suggested plan would work for you, we will 3) give you a client form url which is used to fill in basic information about the project and also to send your files - that is, if you don't already have them somewhere else more convenient for you. That's it, now we'll get to work! 4) As soon as there is something juicy and fresh to be shared with you, you'll get an email. We give out a long example of the hand-crafted sound for your project, so you can hear what's been done and be assured everything is moving along nicely. At this point, you'll hopefully be the most happy person in the world, or at least you'll come up with some tweak wishes, to which we usually can respond. 5) Then, when you are that happy camper, we'll give out details for the payment method you've chosen in that already previously filled client form. After we've received the payment correctly, 6) you'll get the final files in those delivery formats you requested - yep, you guessed it - in that same form! Gongratulations! Hooray!

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: Instead of using just one main audio software, we combine the best of different platforms and their signature sounds, using them all in real-time for a stellar sound and amazing summing. Our signal chain preserves creative freedom for sound tweaking without destructive editing or quality-loss at any point. First, all main project files get started in Logic Pro using Mac OSX. Then, from Logic Pro, all audio tracks are streamed digitally in real-time using a maximum of 24 x ADAT channels (24bit) to an outboard Mackie Digital 8Bus mixing console for hands-on corrections and effects. From the Mackie Digital 8Bus, those audio channels are brought back into the computer in real-time via 24 x ADAT (24bit) to be summed to a final master file in Harrison Mixbus software, which is legendary for it's analog, musical and harmonic sound. (We've signal-tested it and also our other connections on a single bit level.) For plug-ins in Logic Pro and Harrison Mixbus, we've selected the best from companies like Softube, Brainworx, Voxengo, SPL, Elysia, Waves and Plugin Alliance. All are either simulating old classic hardware units or specific digital precise correction tools. The Mackie Digital 8Bus mixing console is also fully expanded with all available effects including dynamics, EQ's, reverbs etc from manufacturers like TC Electronics and Drawmer. The studio has been acoustically measured, treated with hand-craft absorption elements and flat-corrected using linear phase Sonarworks Reference software.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: It's really relaxing to know your music will sound fantastic everywhere it's listened to. A perfected sound just has to have definiton, balance, depth, warmness and energy. For us it doesn't matter if that best possible result takes an hour or a full day to produce. Your music is art and it needs perfection. Instead of just charging hourly rates for a fast compressing or limiting - we polish, sculpt and enhance your song(s) in every possible way. Nothing pleases us more than hearing the pure happiness from our clients for finding us.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: As also artists and producers ourselves, we know how critically important it is to get the best possible mastering for the music we've already worked endless hours on. It has to be absolutely perfect and balanced when released for public listening where all sorts of different devices are used.
