AK Sandnes on SoundBetter

Mixing engineer located in Los Angeles. My goal is to make your music sound better than you imagined. Lots of indie credits, lots of happy clients. Where vibe meets fidelity is where I live, and I find it very important to keep your sound intact while bringing it to a new sonic level. Let me help you make your music sound great.

Originally from Bergen, Norway, I'm a freelance mixing engineer based in LA and Bergen, and I love a good melody. I do remote mixing for a multitude of genres and styles, and I specialize in mixing pop, hiphop, rock and alternative genres.

I have a Master's Degree in Music Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and have been working in music and audio for 15 years. Learning the bulk of my craft at 4th Street Recording in Santa Monica (working with Sejo Navajas, Chris Mullings and Jim Wirt), a studio which oozes old school vibe, I've developed a style reflective of that place. Vibe is everything, fidelity is the rest. I like to make things sound big, fat, immersive. When I dive into a song, I listen closely for what the artist is trying to convey, what their style is, what they want the listener to experience when they hear the song. Then I do what I can to help the track give the listener an even more powerful experience, enhancing the vibe of the song and help give it a signature sound.

Credits include Tom Freund, Ben Harper, Khalil, Ayoni, Coco Jadad/Nicolle Jadad, Chris Roberts, Little Galaxies and many Norwegian acts like Point, Aktiv Dödshjelp, Pappasaft and Monstereo.

Andreas is a fantastic recording engineer and mixer. We have worked together on numerous singles and albums (around 100) over several years. His mixes are very musical and impactful while presenting great instrument balances in addition to frequency balances. When a chorus comes in I often remark about the “Sandnes Wall of Sound” as every element and layer has a place and he makes it sound big and impactful with the vocals always clear and detailed. Additionally, he knows genres and uses his experience as a musician for natural and market-ready results...highly recommended!
