BA & MA qualified mixing and mastering engineer offering professional results, with fast turn around times, at affordable rates.
Drawing on both practical experience and formal training from a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Music Production, I combine both technical and creative skills to provide professional remote mixing and mastering. My aim is to bring your songs to their fullest potential by creating polished, release-ready tracks.
As a musician, I understand that sending your songs away for mixing and mastering can be daunting. That's why, when we work together, each mix and master receives two rounds of revisions. Starting with my initial mix/master, followed by two rounds of revisions based on your feedback, ensuring your vision is integrated at every step. This guarantees your songs sound the way you want.
Rest assured, I understand the importance of adhering to tight schedules. A single master can often be completed as fast as 24 - 48 hours, whilst mixing and mastering a full album can often be turned around within a week. The delivery timeline for your mixes will always be agreed in advance to align with your schedule.
If you think I'm the right fit to mix and master your project, or if you need any further guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out for a no-obligation chat.

Interview with Alex Boba
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Taking something that has tons of potential and turning it into the finished product.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you can "fix it in the mix".
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I aim for warm, full, punchy sounding tracks.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, indie, folk, pop, acoustic, singer-songwriter.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical workflow starts with communication with the client to understand their vision and goals for the project. Then it's a case of carrying out the technical and creative work required to bring that goal to life. Once the initial mix is complete, I deliver the files, gather feedback, carry out revisions, and resend the files. Then, I gather one more round of feedback, make the final alterations, and deliver the finished project.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've had the privilege of working from various top-notch studio spaces. Currently, I'm working in a small but well-equipped post-production room.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am focused primarily on mixing and mastering.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love both - for remote mixing and mastering, I work entirely in the box, as it allows me to recall the session in order to carry out the all important revision process.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Firstly, identify a selection of engineers whose mixes or masters sound great to you. Then, start a conversation with each of them via email. This initial interaction often reveals whether there's a natural rapport and mutual understanding of your project, and can be instrumental in ensuring a smooth collaboration that achieves the desired results.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out playing in bands and developed a passion for the recording process. This passion led me to pursue a BA and an MA in music production, complemented by hands-on experience through several internships. Now, I divide my time between mixing and mastering, sharing my knowledge of music production through my website www.mixinglessons.com, and pursuing a PhD in Music where I am focusing on mastering.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Experience and a second set of ears.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: The main question is who their musical influences and references are, and whether there are any specific songs they aspire their project to sound like. This helps me to tailor my approach to ensure that their songs sound the way they want.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Great masters start with great mixes, great mixes start with great recordings.
