Interview with Simeon Georgiev
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: It's mainly focused on audio/sound mixing and audio/sound mastering as I have the right equipment to help them received professional sound.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have some basic studio setup although is good enough to get some professional sound over there. I have a pair of KRK's studio monitors , KORG MS-20 Mini , Roland Keyboard , AKAI S1000 Sampler , Stagg Accoustic Guitar as well and set of Logic Pro and Ableton Live full with plug-in processors from the best companies in audio processing like UAD , Brainworx , Waves and so on.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Primarily starting with shaping the idea of what I need to make. First I found the right template for the right project. Then , I analyse the source I need to work with. Starting the process as I work on some schedule with breaks so that I can keep my ears and consciousness fresh.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Passion and liveness
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My infallible hearing about musical notes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Drum'n'Bass but I really like to work on other genres within electronic genre and not only like Jazz , R&B-Soul , Funk and Hip-Hop at all everything urban-based.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The tight low-end is one of the most important things for creating clear production as will help you to open much space for the mids and highs. I personally increase with 1-2 dB around 80 Hz on sub-bass , adding slightly saturation to add harmonics , cut something around 80 Hz on kick if clashing with the sub-bass then I can add parallel compression and side-chain compression on the kick just to cut more accurately through the mix.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: They are a lot but if I need to pick one I'll choose Calibre as my fav Producer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's more into the soulful part of the sound. I really like to combine the musical approach of Funk , Jazz and R&B-Soul with some Dark elements from classical Hardcore Breakbeat.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I aiming to get my artistic name to level of authority in concrete musical genre. Just for me this means a lot and I think that this is some kind of honour. I'm Recording Artist over 5 years.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: To be prepared for a lot of discussion about the concrete idea of the project if it's about music synthesise as I want everything to be clear before starting out. If is something about audio production in meaning of audio processing will be much more about the proper reference of the song which he want to received.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: "Is it urgent ?" and "What's your budget ?"
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "How long it will take ? " , "How is it going ?"
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That when I do it I feel like having fun and not working and that's the best thing , just I can make it days and nights , weeks after weeks and I would not feel so tired as if I make something which I don't like so much.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I put my words where my mouth is. Everything I made is about them and me like person and professional behind their projects. When we make relationship with project I also come to be a part of that project and it turns like a personal thing.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog 100%. I really like the concept behind this musical artefacts which gives the analog like the slightly noise , warmth and punch on the records. I believe that this give much liveness.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Maybe my personal project like artist. It's something that gives me an excite to do and that's the place where I feel myself at 100%.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: They are a lot but I would be inspired from any forward - thinking professional no matter if is well established or not.
