Interview with Mixed by Daye

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital for it’s portability/mobility and ease of use.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Laptop, Apollo, U87, API 512c, Yamaha hs7 pair. :)

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: Started off producing around 7 years ago but gravitated towards mixing the past 3 to 4 years.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Use samples as a tool. Find a good sample and record over it, build melodies and chords around it (if needed to, remove the sample after the fact). Works great when in need of inspiration or when you love everything about a sample and want add your sound to it/ have it add to yours.

  9. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  10. A: Mixing + plus producing after files have been sent or in the studio and mastering when needed by the artist
