Stu Watts is a seasoned musician, songwriter, producer, and engineer who has been creating meaningful, authentic music for over two decades.

Starting young as a drummer and guitarist, he played in bands The Playbook and The Spinset, gaining national airplay, touring extensively, and sharing stages with high-profile acts. After earning an Advanced Diploma in Music Industry Skills (Technical Production) in 2011, he became a sought-after live sound engineer at leading Melbourne venues.

Now focused on studio work, Stu has produced, engineered, and written for hundreds of artists, amassing over 8 million streams. His love for rock and pop, paired with a down-to-earth approach, delivers consistently high-quality results.

As Head Sound Engineer at Marshall Street Studios, Stu has worked with Lil Mosey, Clariyah Bo$$, Byg Boy Jay, Bukowski, and Willowbank Grove. He also coaches artists, teaches mixing, and hosts school field trips.

Nominated for Breakthrough Producer at the 2024 MPEG Awards, Stu also runs the podcast What’s That Sound?—featuring top Australian producers and engineers—which hosted its first live panel and networking event in 2024, and was nominated for Outstanding Community Work.
