Like most, I love to play in your face guitar, but I take most pride and joy in laying down pocket grooves and catchy parts. I specialize in funk, soul, r&b, and rock, but no matter what the style, providing a solid groove and song specific part is what I like to bring to the table to let the artist and other instruments shine.
Hello!
I am a professional freelance guitarist, artist, and composer based out of Brooklyn, NY. I play in person and remote sessions, with original artists, as well as weddings, bar gigs, club dates, and corporate gigs. I additionally write my own music for my original instrumental funk and soul band Real Intentions.
All of my experience between running my own funk and soul band The New Review, writing and touring with them for 6 years, playing for other artists and cover gigs, playing and composing my own music, and studying at Berklee College of Music as a guitar principal, have given me the skills, taste, and ears to provide songs and tracks with just what they need.

Great provider! Was able to recreate arrangement with ease. Tried a lot of different providers but he was the only one able to get the tone right. Great guitarist that I highly recommend for your your next project!

Jesse is a most excellent and professional guitarist. His playing and versatility is second to none. Highly recommended!
Jesse is a versatile guitarist well versed in different genres. As a song writer, I need musicians who can work fast and without much direction. Jesse knows exactly what I’m looking for ... just by listening to the music. At this point in my life, I don’t have extra time to teach people everything I need out of their performance on a track... they need to be ready to offer me something better than what I expect. Jesse fulfills these needs and more. I strongly recommend working with him. Thanks Jesse!
I’ve worked with Jesse on a few occasions, and each time he’s worked above and beyond to deliver an excellent product. I’ve already recommended him to friends for guitar performances, production and session work and everyone has come back to me with glowing reviews. Highly recommend working with him

Jesse is an extremely talented guitarist who will elevate your project. He is easy to work with, and has no shortage of ideas or enthusiasm. I highly recommend!
Interview with Jesse Baskin
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most commonly, I am recording guitar (electric, acoustic, or nylon string) for someone's song. Sometimes there are parts written for me, and often there are not. When there is no prewritten material for me to play, I appreciate my clients trusting my ears and playing enough to create my own parts. In the case of the later, I give the song multiple listens before even picking up the guitar, to really find the vibe and big picture the artist/client is going for. From there, I am on my way to writing the best guitar parts I can to fit the song. This importantly includes not under delivering, but also not over delivering by adding too much and turning the song completely "guitar-centric"- unless it calls for that! I'll also sometimes record guitar solo's if the client and song call for it!
