My name is Matt Frankenstein and I'm the owner of Blackbird Mastering which is a world class audio mastering Studio where the Artist and their music comes first. I guarantee you to handle your material with care and I totally respect the decision making of producers and mixing engineers around the world.
In our audio mastering studio we will treating your audio with the same care whether they were recorded in the biggest music studio or in your own private garage.
Our services are made for independent artists in first place but whether you deliver a production with budget constrains or productions with seriously high budget, we are totally respect your work schedule and we will deliver a high quality Master in anyway.
Our studio is currently working in a hybrid fashioned way but however, great gear alone can’t deliver a great sounding master. When it comes to mastering, nothing can compete with years of experience, good taste, great ears, true love and passion for helping audio sound its absolute best.
After playing drums in several local bands, Matt started his career as an Audio Engineer student in the spring 2012 at SAE- Institute vienna. After completing his studies, he worked on various studio projects as an mixing engineer and worked FOH on many renowned productions. Meanwhile he started his own band project Zero One Death and toured Germany with the band „Kaiser Franz Josef„. It even took him to sunny Austin TX where he worked with GRAMMY® nominated producer Chris „Frenchie“ Smith (and you’ll know by the Trail of Dead, Meat Puppets, The Toadies, Gregg Rolie, The Answer, Jet, etc.).

Interview with Blackbird Mastering
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Professional and well trained ears and years of experiences in the music industry. Sense of musical feeling, to know exactly what to do and when to do, and of course the most important thing.....passion for music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I’d love to have a got conversation between my clients and for me it’s super important to answer all questions my clients have in a totally professional way. After I had a rough idea what the client or artist would like to say with his song, I start to do my magic. I always make several mastering versions of a song to give the client more options but if I nailed the vision of my client in the first step I’ll try to save time and send just the one and only final version.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It’s a hybrid mastering system and acoustic wise I did a lot of things totally by myself!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jonathan Wyner, Maor Appelbaum, Howie Weinberg
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Professional human audio mastering
