What can I say about RVelle! He is such a mastermind when it comes to bringing your visions to life. His communication and his ability to let you be in on the beat-making process as well by letting you pick sample choices is something I definitely admire. Definitely will work with him again!

Interview with RVelle

  1. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  2. A: Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Rod Temperton, Teddy Riley, DeVante Swing, Stevie J, Chucky Thompson, Dr Dre, DJ Quick, Timbaland, Kanye West, Jake One and Hit Boy and of course The Honorable C.N.O.T.E.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on a project for an Instagram campaign to promote a well known recording artist from the United Kingdom.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Hybrid, why limit yourself to one, they both have their advantages so why not take advantage of what they both have to offer, I don't believe in limiting yourself.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: To work tirelessly on your project until you are 100% satisfied

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Making my clients happy and knowing that I've done my very best to achieve that goal. Also continuing to grow as a music producer as everyday brings a new challenge.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: How long will it take to get the intial idea written? Answer, 24hrs Are revisions available? Answer, absolutely, my job is to make the client totally happy with the direction of the music

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That its a cut and paste job which is so not the case, every project is unique and bespoke, there is no one size fits all. music is very personal and as far as I'm concerned deserves the upmost respect as it's an extremely powerful medium and literally saves lives.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: That varies from client to client as everyone is different and you have to be able to gauge what seems appropriate for that particular situation but usually try and make the client feel extremely comfortable so they can express what they feel and articulate what their end goal is.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Go for it, we have the opportunity to create something magical and the callaboration between us could be life changing, there is always that possibility that we could connect on so many levels and produce the best sounding music possible.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: My MPC, a synth, my Macbook Pro, an audio interface and a pair of flat response headphones lol.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I've started my musical journey from the age of seven, learning the Trombone and playing in the school orchestra so that was my first real introduction to music. As I got older I moved into music production as a teenager and started to learn about M.I.D.I programming and audio recording at college level. I've been writing and producing music for over 20 years and every day I learn something new, It's true that music is a life long learning experience, it just never stops and I love that.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: My style is hard, Soulful and extremely all about the funk, As Teddy Riley once said " Being a producer is like being a scientist you have to go back to your sources, and never overlook the FUNK"

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I'd love to work with Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj as I find them so authentic, diverse and extremely charismatic. Their ability to switch up their styles and create these different vibes is amazing to me.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Never be afraid to have multiple ideas for any particular song, let the music evolve and grow, don't get so attached to a particular vibe that you miss out on the songs full potential.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Hip Hop, R&b and Pop are the genres that I mostly work in.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: My strongest skill is being able to adapt to any situation and understanding the needs of my clients.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: I bring my unique sound and flare, I definitely think outside of the box and refuse to be confined to any particular genre, I like to mix and blend and create something fresh as I have so many musical influences I write what the song needs, every record is different and requires different things. The music always tells me which direction we need to go in.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: Typically I start off my project in the MPC to get the initial idea down, I then bring the track into my DAW for further writing, this is where usually develop the harmony, melody, song structure and arranging. Once I'm happy with the arrangement I'll start to tweak the sound of the mix even further as I usual mix as I write to define the sound of the record and direction.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have a Hybrid system which is based around the Akai MPC X as the central piece which is hooked upto a Yamaha MODX7 synth, I run these item directly into my Focusrite Audio Interface and record into Personus Studio One so I capture the analogue warm of the hardware. I have a Slew of high end plugins and VSTi's along with a UAD external Audio Processing unit.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: The most common type of work that I do for clients is producing Instrumental Beats/Compositions for their projects. Recording Artists require beats to write to and Content Creators who need backing music for their online videos etc.
