Mia on SoundBetter

Award-winning songwriter working with the artist, for the artist to bring your vision to life and tell your story the way you want it to be told.

Hey! My name is Mia And I’m a singer / songwriter based out of Australia.

I’ve spent the past 7 years developing and enhancing my skills, working with writers behind artists like Lady Gaga and Itzy, Sony Music Pub and Warner Chappell, and for sync and commercials with some of the world's biggest tech companies. I was also honoured with the LFA creative competition award for songwriting in 2015, and Stewart’s music best performance award.

I specialist in various areas of pop, (and have a soft spot for the slow stuff) taking inspiration throughout my career from artists such as Billie Eilish, London Grammar, Ed Sheeran, Bon Iver, George Ogilvie (and many more)

Music for me is about being able to tell stories you couldn't otherwise tell, expressing feelings you couldn't otherwise express, or just exploring emotions that can feel so hard to identify. I always want to be genuine, vulnerable and real, and not write ' just another song' but something people will actually relate to, and that will feel wholeheartedly part of me if / when I perform it.

I'm always down for writing sessions, or having a chat - send me a message!

Contact me through the green button above and let's get to work.

Mia is kind, collaborative, and talented - with a real knack for melodies. She knows what she wants, has a clear vision, and comes prepared and organized with pages of ideas ready to go. I'm so excited to hear the music she puts out!

Mia was extremely attentive and incredible towards me. I had a lot of messy lyrics and somewhat melodies that she helped me solidify into actual songs that are bops (perhaps biased but I think is true). She was so caring and kind towards me the whole time and helped to work around my schedule and put up with my midnight ramblings of song ideas I had. I could not recommend Mia more to anyone not only for her professionalism and ability, but her personality and outright kindness

I have worked with Mia on a number of projects over the past 12 months and she is always extremely professional, timely and extremely considerate. She always has fantastic ideas, melodies I would never have been able to think of myself, and lyrics that are practical yet heartfelt. I have recommended her to many a client and cannot speak highly enough of her.

Interview with Mia

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started playing guitar at the age of 12, after I was gifted a Takamine acoustic guitar by my uncle. I'd always liked singing, but had never put the two together until my guitar teacher suggested I sing along to the songs we were learning. I went on to begin performing in front of larger and larger audiences, and did all the things people do - joined a band.. and another.. Then decided to take things in my own direction. To cut a long story short, I've now been doing this for 10 years, and look forward to every opportunity I have to be a part of making music magic.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I would love to work with someone like FINNEAS - I'm so intrigued by his clever style of lyric writing.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: I have a lot of inspirations from early on in my career to now. Earlier ones include Eden (The Eden Project), Amber Run, Twenty One Pilots, Aurora, Ed Sheeran, London Grammar and Oh Wonder. More recently (the past 3-4 years or so) I've been inspired by artists like Billie Eilish, Tate Mcrae, Lewis Capaldi and Tom Odell.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: I'm slowly working away at my own EP, and also working on some songs for commercials as well as for clients on Soundbetter.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: Jantine A. Heij, a phenominal singer and songwriter, I highly recommend her.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Information is king, and the more detail you can provide the better. A clear picture of exactly what you're looking for, your music references, ideas, etc. all help the process run more smoothly and ensure an outcome you're 110% happy with.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: I like to start with a bit of a back story - what are you wanting to write about? What in your lived experience has lead up to this moment? I also like to listen to reference tracks, and go through specifically what you like about each - songs can be interpreted in so many different ways, so it's important for me to understand exactly what you see in a particular song. Once I begin writing I'll check in with my initial ideas for you to approve, and once completed will send you an audio recording or lyric sheet depending on the task requirements.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: Primarily songwriting (both lyrics and melody), both on my own and in collaboration over zoom.
