Michael Squillace on SoundBetter

Whether it's composing or arranging for horns or strings as well as recording saxophone (soprano/alto/tenor) or clarinet, Michael Squillace will add a layer to your music that moves the listener and rivals any of his contemporaries. He's played in front of thousands and recorded in some of the best studios that the US has to offer.

Michael Squillace has been playing saxophone since he was 12 years old, receiving inspirational mentorship from Joey Stann (formerly of South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Gary U.S Bonds, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen). He quickly picked up classical clarinet as well, under the direction of Dr. Paul Caruso, a Rutgers Mason Gross graduate, leading him to win multiple state and regional orchestra 1st chair seats in New Jersey. With a background in both blues and classical music, he prides himself on precision without a loss of emotion, as well as a dark full tone complete with impeccable articulation.

Squillace currently plays frequently with Jake Tavill & Indigo Soul, Nick Ryan and The Mess, Taylor Tote, and the Foes of FERN, as well as doing session and arrangement work for numerous artists and bands from a myriad of genres. Through his endeavors, Squillace has had the honor of playing at prestigious venues all over the world, including Carnegie Hall, NJPAC, The Count Basie Theatre, B.B. Kings Blues Club, The Stone Pony, The Starland Ballroom, opening for Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The O'Jays, and more. He has also been featured on both film and TV scores internationally. His most fulfilling performance, however, is always at the annual benefit concert, Jammin for Jaclyn, that he runs to support cancer fighters; originally founded for his sister.

Michael Squillace is the most versatile and intuitive woodwind and arranger that I've worked with. He brings a heartfelt, yet well-thought out element to every project we work on together. Highly recommend
