Interview with Dez
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been in and out of music for the past two decades. I was finally bold enough to quit my full time job and try to make it something out of it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I have been lucky enough to work with Quadman. I would have liked to work with Quincy Jones. I would like to work with Matt Berninger.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always feel what you do.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie pop, New Wave.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Writing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: As Jarvis Cocker said, "Song lyrics are not poems". Without music, lyrics lose meaning. I believe that it's important to give meaning to lyrics understanding that they need to be adapted to music. It's a process.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I write mostly in flights.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Any eighties or "post famous musician" time artist. Quincy Jones, Quadman, Dave Bascombe. I love Depeche Mode, The Killers, Joy Division, The National and "one hit wonders".
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mostly write from my computer an old MacBook Pro.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Contribute with lyrics and music.
