WRITING FOR ARTISTS
My success with artists revolves around writing a solid top line. I enjoy writing colorful, thoughtful, and clever lyrics that are universally easy to understand. See clients on 'credits' list below.
WRITING FOR SYNC
Writing music that evokes emotion while following a formula music supervisors crave is my specialty. When I’m not writing for pitches, I’m executive producing sync projects for artists. The idea is to help artists create an additional stream of income while elevating their careers with high-profile ad/TV/film/promo placements.
My workflow is straight-forward, thorough, and always inspired. Turnaround time depends on the breadth of your project. If you're on a tight deadline, contact me for expedited pricing.
Let's get to work.

Ashley is truly gifted. Love working with her. I trust her editing eye. I wrote a very wordy song and she helped refine and simplify but still kept it relatable and fun. I feel like she gets me, I couldn't ask for a better collaborator! Thanks Ash!

We had a country pop tune that needed to be punched up lyrically. We shared our goals, deadlines and direction for the song, she asked some great questions, and then she got to work immediately. She embraced it like it was her own song, and returned something that truly exceeded our expectations. She is talented and a real pro. Look forward to working with her again very soon!

Ashley is incredible. She went above and beyond what I could have hoped for.
Interview with ASH
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: 9 times out of 10 I'm working out of a boutique recording studio in Los Angeles that I share with my production team. I work in ProTools and Melodyne on a Raven console. The outboard gear is a Neve 1064, UA LA-2A, and a U-47 mic inside of an air-tight isobooth. I have a mobile base for when I'm on the move consisting of an Apogee Duet, Slate VMS L1 mic, and an Aston halo reflection filter.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always be crystal clear about what you want. Providing references is key! We are music wizards, not mind readers.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! If I think they fit the needs of a project, I'm happy to refer them.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My career started in Music Therapy, working with autistic children in New York City's most low income special needs schools. I was always co-writing with local music artists, too. While I was in grad school, I was asked to write for some high-profile artists in Los Angeles. Great opportunities kept presenting themselves on the West coast, and I eventually pressed pause on the Music Therapy track and took a chance on myself as a professional songwriter. Here we are 10 years later, and I'm still very much in love with music.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Assuming I have some solar power panels -- MacBook pro, Apogee Duet, Fender Standard Strat, U-47, Aston Halo Reflection Filter.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Recently I wrote a children's album for RuPaul's Drag Race superstar Nina West. She wanted an album geared towards modern families in the LGBTQ+ community, which was uncharted territory in the children's music world. It was a unique challenge that was received with so much love and support, and I'm so proud to have been a part of it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Day-to-day I am working the sync world, but I always make time for artists I connect with and believe in.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog will always sound warmer and more alive, but digital is easier on the wallet. Waves has a collection of bundles that imitate analog tape beautifully and I use them on pretty much everything.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It feels like I get to be in a different band every day.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It might look like I'm slacking off on my phone in a writing session, but I swear I'm in a shared note working on lyrics!!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the deadline? Do you have any sound/vibe references for your project? What do you want to feel from the vocal performance?

Thrilled to announce that KATYA's "Vampire Fitness" is #1 on the iTunes Electronic charts!! This album was written in four different languages (Russian, Portuguese, Italian, and English).
