I wrote my first song in the age of 8 and since then I've been searching for new sounds, creating new melodies and improving my creative and technical skills every single day. Interview with Austin Collton

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of all of my projects, but, you know.. It is always never enough :) It's like a creative virus, the more you create - the more you need to do it.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Several hip-hop and pop projects.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not yet. But I'd like to know people who work in the same industry.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both analog and digital! When you combine these two powers - you get extremely huge results!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll do everything to make your track great. But I'll never copy an existing track. In that case - I'm not the right guy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Pretty much everything. I love making music. I love watching my clients' happy eyes. I love the creative process behind every track.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long will the process take :) The answer is - as long as you're 100% satisfied. Typically it takes 2-4 weeks to create a full track from sketch.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I have nothing to answer :)

A: What does this track mean to you. Tell me the story behind it.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: You need to feel that this is "your guy". It is not just a job. You hire someone who'll bring emotions, feelings and life in your music. It's much more than simply making an order. You need to trust in your provider.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I wrote my first song when I was 8. Since then I've been making music nearly every day. As a child I presented my music (pretty much classical orchestral) at different shows and competitions for young and talented.. won some prizes :) Than I started to learn commercial music production as well as scoring for movies. And now I'm here.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: It's hard to describe. You have to feel it :)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake. Their music touches me. So I'd like to become a part of that)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more. But make this "less" sound HUGE.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Modern R'n'B, Pop, Hip-Hop
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Improvisation and catchy drums
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring everything I can in every song that I make. First - I need to feel it, to find inside of me what is necessary for this particular track. And then I need to convert that feelings into melodies, harmonies, notes, hooks, fx and so on.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically my work process with a client is: first raw sketch -> simple arrangement -> more developed arrangement (both vocal and instrumental) -> final details and "ear-candies"

A: I got access to many top-class studios, so I carefully choose which one will suit for my next project.
