Chris Barber Drums on SoundBetter

After touring the world with L.A. band Crazy Town (#1 single Butterfly) and recording at world-renowned studios across the globe, I have set up my own recording studio in the north of England specializing in remote drum recording and mixing. My forte lies in rock pop and metal music but I'm very adaptable, I hope to hear from you soon!

Over the years I have gained an extensive amount of live and studio experience as a professional drummer playing around the world with many different bands and artists. Most notably the LA-based rap/metal band ‘Crazy Town’ (#1 single Butterfly) which I was the full-time drummer for during 2017. I did several tours with them around the world in places all over Europe, the USA, India and more.
Other bands that I’ve played for include the Manchester-based metal band ‘Empires Fade’ who I joined in 2014 after filling in as their session drummer on a European tour. I recorded the drums for their debut album ‘The Edge Of Existence’ which ranked #4 in the iTunes metal charts shortly after its release. We toured all over the UK and EU many times after this establishing a decent fanbase.
More recently I have been a member of the pop-rock band ‘Fast Car To Florence’ since the formation of the band in late 2017: having released several singles and EPs since then, we have gained a substantial online following which we plan to continue building and coincide with a busy touring schedule.
I now run a remote recording studio in England where I record custom live drum tracks for bands, artists and producers all over the world. My clients so far have been extremely diverse from producers & artists at EMI to tech-metal bands in the middle east.

Chris will inject life into your project. I had the pleasure of working with him on my unreleased solo album. After a halt in the post production to focus on other endeavors I came back at it with fresh ears and man this guy knows how to bring it! A true pleasure working with Chris, besides his professionalism as a session drummer the sound quality of the recordings is up to high standards, super easy to edit and mix, with so many mic options that you will certainly be able to dial in the sound you are looking for.
I can’t wait to be working with Chris again!

I needed backing drums for a cover track and boy did Chris produce the goods!
Great communications, very quick turnaround. I received a quality mixed version along with all of the stems for my DAW. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

The service that Chris offers is like nothing else available out there! Not only is he a fantastic drummer - playing with skill, precision and accuracy - but he is also a brilliant recording and mixing engineer, delivering a thoroughly professional end result of AWESOME sounding drum tracks. I’ve worked with Chris in several projects and he is unfailing in his attention to detail. His ability to get a part nailed, tracked and sent over in good time has had me returning to him over and over. Plus - his prices are an absolute bargain for the quality of service. Thoroughly recommended!

I'm a music producer based in Hong Kong for the past 35 years, and Chris is an amazing drummer who has done a variety of tracks for me recently, including rock, pop, and brush drums tracks, even a tune that needed percussion and a cajon box. He is always is intuitive and nails what I want. His drum sound is also excellent, and he is quick to turn around tracks and revisions. Totally recommended!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: There is no work... There is always work available you just have to work hard to find it and be persistent.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Do you have any demo drum parts to listen to? Can you provide the BPM for your song? What kind of sound are you after?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Be sure to select a drummer that is suited to your style of music. For example, you can check out my Youtube or Instagram videos to get an idea of the sound I get from my playing and studio - watch these first and if you like what you see we're good to go!

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Rock, Pop, Indie, Metal, Alternative, Gospel.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

I'm an experienced session drummer with years of experience playing live and recording with several different artists.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: The usual process begins with you getting in touch with me online to discuss your music and the kind of service you're wanting. You can send your songs in whatever format works for you (mp3, WAV, MIDI) and include any demo drum parts that exist on your track, if you like. We can then go over the project together and negotiate a price that suits your budget, making sure that we are both happy before continuing. Next, I'll start working on the drum parts for your songs in the studio and have a few takes sent back within a couple of days. It's up to you whether you want me to follow a demo drum track you already have or create something completely fresh. Three revisions will be inclusive for each track which is easily enough 99% of the time, so don't be afraid to ask for things to be changed! When you're satisfied with the drums, I'll export each track individually in WAV format and send them to you via an email link. If you are using Logic and would prefer to receive the Logic session instead I can do that too. Finally, download your tracks online and drag the files straight into your DAW.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a dedicated recording studio that is built specifically for drum recording. It has been acoustically treated and optimised to achieve an amazing drum sound. Featuring a selection of drum kits and microphones, with industry-standard AD converters and digital processing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Drummers such as Taylor Hawkins, Atom Willard and Eric Moore inspire me to be a better drummer. Music production-wise, I'd say Ash Soan inspires me to improve my drum production.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Remote Drum Recording for Bands, Songwriters & Producers Worldwide.
