This was my 1st experience on this site, and was a very positive one!
I worked with Payt on vocals, although he also does production work. Judging my the quality of the vocals I got from him, he's a pretty dope producer as well as a very talented singer/writer.
I sent Payt a detailed brief, and got back exactly what I wanted plus some alternate vocal clips on top.
Overall great experience, hope to work with him again in the future.

Very professional, quality sound and SERVICE. I’ve been working with him for sometime and I’m never disappointed the energy behind the sessions to the beat production will have you deleting every other producer out your phone because PEYT COMES THROUGH!!!

I have been working with with Payt for 2 years.
His beats get picked out by my team over a lot of other beats, he is great at conceptualizing songs and turning an idea that I have in mind to a finished product that that gets good reviews and tend to be loved by my fans. Yet to do a feature with him!
I’ll always be working with Payt.
Hit him up for beats, songwriting, engineering, features among many other things.

Interview with Payt

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m really proud of my projects, and I do pretty much everything you hear. Write, sing, produce, arrangement, recording, and mixing!

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m definitely working on taking over the world of music! I think I’m getting close!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: @raephantom And of course I would!

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: The question that my clients ask me the most is: “How would you sing this if this was your song?” My answer always varies.....

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: My microphone, my preamp, my computer, my phone, and a reverb unit!!!!!

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: I promise that if we keep working together, I will always do the best that I can with every project.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: The biggest misconception about me is: A lot of my clients think that I'm a miracle worker. I'm new to Soundbetter, but I've been engineering for a long time. I have honed my skills, and I have spent countless hours practicing techniques to give people the best sound possible. However, I can only put in what you give me. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. If you're great, I will make you sound amazing. If you're not that talented, but you listen, you will grow and eventually, you will be amazing. If you suck, and your attitude sucks, then there is not too much I can do for you. You get what you give.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: I ask all types of questions. It just depends on what we're doing. I will definitely pick your brain no matter what. If you need a custom beat, I'll ask about the song you want to do. If you need a hook, I'll ask how you want it to feel. If you need a song mix, I'll ask about your mixing preferences and how you want the song to feel. It just depends on what's going on at the time.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: Honestly, my style is sort of complexed. I like to mix and mesh as many styles as possible!

  19. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  20. A: BOTH! And as much gear, and vst's as possible. Why limit yourself?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: I refuse to waste your time. I am not going to tell you that something sounds good if it doesn't. I'm here to make you sound better. I'm not in the business to break hearts, or hurt feelings... However, I'm not in the business to sprinkle glitter on shit either.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I want to take over the world of music! I've been singing for 7 years, playing drums for 26 years, rapping for 15 years, producing/making beats for 15 years and engineering for 10 years!

  25. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  26. A: I love that I never stop learning. I am a student, and a teacher at all times.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I like to challenge myself. I like to add elements of different styles to hiphop, and r&b. There is really nothing I can't do as long as I know how the song key works.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: My strongest skill is helping artists be a better version of themselves. If you work with me, I'll definitely push your limits.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I can definitely bring new elements to any song. Emotion, feeling, mood, cadence..... There's so many things that can help elevate a song.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: Recording Studio: Microphone - Avantone Pro BV-1 Interface - Universal Audio Rack Mic Pres - WA 1073 W/ EQ and Focusrite ISA One Monitors - Yamaha HS8 (Pair), Yamaha HS8S Sub, Tannoy Reveal 502 (Pair) Talk Back - Presonus Monitor Station Computer - Mac Tower Production Studio: Monitors - Adam Audio T7V (Pair) Interface - Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 Midi Controller - M-Audio Code49 Computer - Gaming PC

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I don't have a typical process because every situation is different. I like to go with the flow of things and try to see what process is best for that particular artist, and/or song.

  37. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  38. A: I really want to work with Timbaland!!!!!!!!!!! He is my favorite producer.

  39. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  40. A: Always keep growing. If you stop learning, then quit. Always be willing to learn and willing to teach.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Timbaland inspires me! I haven't heard a style that he couldn't conquer!

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common work that I do for my clients would have to be making custom beats, recording the client/s, mixing the track/s, and/or doing features!
