Hi, I'm Ben Thames, & I'm a session pianist. Due to a great many hours spent transcribing & learning boogie-woogie piano licks, I work best with the southern rock, blues, gospel & country genres. However, I enjoy lots of great music & am willing to play on anything!
While the music I feel I'm best at is anything blues-based, I also have experience coming up with my own parts for lots of contemporary Christian music.
I've learned in my playing experience that when playing music written by others, it's about finding a part that really serves the song well, not running all over the keyboard showing off your chops. I work best if sent some kind of chord chart along with your music, but I can work by ear if needed.
