I’ve built my studio around the idea that the best modern analog tools paired with the best modern digital tools unquestionably deliver superior results. More importantly, as a musician and producer myself, I have an intimate understanding of both artistic and technical processes and how they can elevate each other.
I’m a Los Angeles native and I've been making music since the mid-90s when I decided to trade in the tedium of oil painting for the immediacy of music. I started out playing guitar in noisy rock bands and eventually found my way down the rabbit hole of electronic and synthesizer-based music where I was taken by the idea that I could create something larger than life entirely alone. Since 2000, I've been running SENTRALL Records. The label has played a central role in defining the Pacifica Sound — music that fuses elements of contemporary electronic music, 70’s cocaine rock, 80’s synth, cosmic new age, dance music and the sunshine that is so baked into the DNA of our state. SENTRALL Sound is critical to the uniquely hazy and bass-forward sonic signature of this sound.
Like others, I started out on cassette 4-tracks and endured the menu-diving insanity of early samplers and workstations, but quickly left those behind as screen-based digital tools matured. I'm an unapologetic modernist. I've designed software professionally for more than 20 years and I have a high bias for frictionless workflow and usability. I appreciate the legacy of vintage tools, but I'll take their sonic signatures with my modern stability and features.
SENTRALL Sound has evolved, but seamlessly integrating high-end analog processors with the best digital tools has always been its guiding principle.
