Hey my name is Ambrose and I'm a classically trained pianist and producer. I've got perfect pitch and over 10,000 hours of experience on the keys. My production style blends old school classical harmonies with new school drums, synths, and dance vibes. I excel at composition, playing keys, recording, editing, and programming.
I was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, where I began Suzuki piano at the age of 4 and later studied piano performance and composition at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music.
I've been commissioned to write concert music and have earned additional writing credits as a composer for Netflix film & television scores. As a pianist, I've played in concert halls spanning the United States and internationally in Krakow, Poland, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The world of recording gear, sequencing, sound libraries, plugins, and arrangement are what my dreams are made of. I'm eager to learn more about your project and get started right away!

Ambrose is an awesome pianist and composer! He’s quick, direct, and very detailed in his work. I would highly recommend him to collaborate on your project.
Ambrose is an incredibly talented & thoughtful pianist/teacher. As someone with basic knowledge of music theory & limited piano playing skills, I was struggling with finding the right practice routines - Ambrose adeptly figured out my specific needs & gave me concrete techniques and resources to improve my piano playing, which has been immensely valuable.
He's also a very talented composer & I'd highly recommend him for anything involving scoring, sync, or music composition!
Ambrose is an amazing collaborator. I've worked with him on countless musical projects, and he always delivers fantastic results in a timely manner. I will continue to collaborate in the future with him and would definitely recommend!
Interview with Ambrose Soehn
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be ashamed if you feel you don't possess enough music theory knowledge or technical vocabulary to express an idea or desire. As long as you can outline your artistic intent, the story you're trying to tell, or the emotional quality you're trying to create, you should have confidence that I will translate that into concrete musical elements that you can listen to and give feedback on. At the end of the day that translation step is a big part of my job, and I enjoy it!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Motion creates emotion. I focus on establishing a strong groove that causes listeners to either consciously or unconsciously move in time with the beat which in turn maximizes their engagement with the music. This is achieved by working from the ground up by first creating "guideposts" on strong metric stress points using the kick and snare or clap and then ornamenting the remaining pockets in unexpected ways using percussion, bass, and other instrumentation.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Hearing something in my head and playing it on the piano. This is incredibly helpful in the composition and arranging process as it allows me to quickly "sketch" ideas and show them to those I'm collaborating with in real time.
