Thir13een is one of the best vocalists I've ever worked with. I had a song that required a very specific sound, and not only did he nailed the parts, but completely surpassed my expectations with his tone, professionalism and creative ideas. Having so much experience in this game, makes Thir13een one of my go-to guys. Highly recommended

Working with Thir13een was a fantastic experience! He worked fast and created an amazing/extremely professional vocal demo for me. Vocals were incredible. I will be recommending him to others and hope to work with him again in the future!!

Interview with Thir13een

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: What is your budget? When do you need delivered by?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: There's loads of musicians to choose from so it can be challenging in hiring the right person for your vision, so the 3 things you need to find out from them is: 1.) Experience. are they just starting out? how long have the been learning their craft? 2.) Previous work. are you the guinea pig? who has trusted their vision with them in the past? 3.) Genre. Your looking for a rock-ballad for your short film but they specialize is reggae music? Not the best match possible.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: macbook, logic pro, splice, wifi box and instagram!

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I have been doing this for 15 years now, since the age 13. I've never really wanted to be much else other than a producer and song writer and by gods grace, I have been.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Current, Sexy & Mainstream

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I'd love to work with so many. Rihanna, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Yes! 'Comparison is the thief of joy' By this I mean play, write or sing whatever first comes to mind as that's your creative intuition guiding you in the right direction. Never try to 'guess' what you think the listener wants to hear. Do what you like to hear and as a result you'll attract listeners who enjoy hearing what you hear too. This will result in a 'fan' or 'supporter'.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Mostly Pop R&B

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Writing songs and producing backing tracks

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: I bring a sharp eye to small detail. I believe its the small things that have the biggest impact when it comes to creating songs. I also bring speed, I work quite fast since I don't write lyrics down on paper. I simply set up the microphone and vocal 2 lines a time. I strongly believe, the easier it is to remember, the catchier it will be to the listener.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: My typical work process is: 1. Speak with client and learn what they want to create 2. Find out their creative vision or assist with their vision 3. Agree price and terms 4. Start work e.g lyrics or producing backing track 5. Once all vocals and instruments are completed, start mixing and mastering 6. Send to client for approval

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: My home studio set up is quite straightforward. I have a Neumann U87 condenser microphone, an audiobox USB interface, Rokit 8 studio speakers and Logic Pro X. I have a session studio in which i rent on occasions for bigger productions or for collaboration work which features more equipment but I don't know half their names lol.

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: I'm inspired by Michael Jackson (long live the king!), Justin bieber, Chris brown and Jacquees.

  27. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  28. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is writing and recording songs (topline). Sometimes they provide lyrics and I produce the backing track and sing the lyrics they've provided. Most of the time, Ill receive a concept or Idea from them and then create that into vocals, lyrics and a song.
