Interview with Scott Anderson
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll work hard until you are 100% stoked with your music!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love bringing music to life. Taking a blank canvas and a few colours to work with and making something the artist and myself are really proud of.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I like to know what inspired the song/s we are working on. I'm a deep guy and I love delving way beneath the technical side of this job and produce music from an honest/transparent place. It's also great to get to know someone as much as you can before working on a project. Skype call or something just to chat really helps the workflow and not having to read between the lines of an email to get to know someone.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been Recording and mixing for almost 20 years (I'm only 33!) I started recording myself when I was 14 and getting audio onto a computer in your own bedroom was pretty ground breaking. Since then I've been afforded many opportunities to write, record, mix and master with many local bands and artists in Australia as well as France, UK and USA. I've also worked closely with Churches and Houses of Worship to produce modern worship music and been a part of many live recordings.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I've spent many hours and dollars converting my garage into a cosy writing, recording and mixing space. I've had many artists say they want to come here all the time as they feel inspired and cosy.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common jobs are Mixing/Mastering although I really enjoy helping produce artists and bands songs from the writing/recording stage.
