Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I only take on work that I'm 100% passionate about, if it doesn't feel right, I'd rather recommend you to another provider. I only select projects where I genuinely feel I can add that extra something special.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Over time, I've really learned to recognize the different creative phases when I'm producing the vocals for a new track. For the first couple of days, I listen to a lot of music especially the reference tracks my client has provided. Then, with my phone always handy, I start sketching out vocal melodies and immediately record them. From those initial ideas, I pick the strongest ones, the ones that really stick in my head. After that selection, it’s time for the lyrics. I personally prefer to find the melody first, then the words I feel like everything sounds much better and smoother that way, but hey, some people do the opposite! Writing the lyrics is definitely the most challenging part, and where I spend the bulk of my time. Another phase I find crucial is taking a break: for two full days, I completely step away from the song and focus on other things. The very first time I listen back, I try to approach the track as if it wasn't mine. If I'm happy with everything, I jump into the studio and record the final vocals over two consecutive days.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: One artist I absolutely love and admire is Laura Mvula. Her album Pink Noise is hands down one of the best records I've heard in years. Laura is the total package: she plays by her own rules, and her music is just bursting with personality. Plus, I really needed that all-pink vinyl for my collection! :)

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Most of the time, I’m hired as a songwriter. Typically, a client comes to me with an instrumental track and some guidelines. I’ll often ask for reference tracks, but I also ask them what they feel about the song I love to really connect with the music as much as possible before I even start singing.
