Interview with Brian Staples
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up playing in bands in New Jersey, was fortunate enough to do some touring and play festivals like Warped Tour and Bamboozle. Studied music at Berklee and Northeastern University, and moved to Los Angeles to make music professionally.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love what Jack Antonoff and Ryan Tedder do as writers and producers, both for the sheer quantity of great songs they've put out with all sorts of different artists, as well as their willingness and desire to continue to breathe humanity into modern pop. Their records always have a special spiritual and sonic quality.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Songwriting is an intensely personal thing, and I think it's important to honor the emotions that inspire us to write. It's my job as your collaborator to help you bring that emotion to life. Together, we'll work to make something you're proud of, something that truly represents you.
