Interview with Patiotic
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My last 2 singles im very proud of them, great sound, great production with amazing collaborations. One reaches the iTunes Electronics Charts in Mexico (pos.12) and also was included on AppleMusic Pop Best of The Week.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Im working in other song with Sophia Garvey and in 4 more songs for my own catalog (updated June 2019)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: These days, full digital, why? lot of aspects turn my workflow to digital: 1.- Work space 2.- Faster workflow 3.- You can have hundreds of "gear" in a hard drive :)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will always receive a respectful treat, and i expect to be treated the same way. Respect is the main and most important thing in this and all kind of jobs. With that, the understanding will come along. And i promise that you will be happy with the results you will get. And if you are not satisfied, will no charge a cent.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Aparte the musical side, i love to know people around the globe, to know different cultures and realities that they print into their music. And to work with that is an honor.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: .- How many tracks can you handle? - more less 40 tracks .- Do you make advices or changes that could bring more creativity to the tracks - commonly yes .- How many days you take for a first deliver? - 3 days more less for a first review
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Take the risk, it's a completely and secure risk, because in my case, if you don't like the result, i will charge nothing. My full and entire intention is that you will be a promoter of my work, and for that i will work as hard as your song deserve. My full attention.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Since 1997. I have started recording for myself, then i have studied audio engineer, have worked on post production for local tv series, commercial ads, and with indie artists. Now with this platform i pretend to show my real skills for artists with very low budget to the bigger ones too. One thing that i will respect is all artists, no matter you are starting your career or not. Everyone is equal important.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Uff that's a hard question. Because i make productions for so much different styles, that im an eclectic composer/musician. I like the challenges.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: To be honest, i would like to work always with indie and new artists, to help them to reach the sound they want, to guide them and help them reach the music they have in their minds to a real song.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Of course, always use different speaker references for your mix, your listeners will use common earphones or car speakers. They will not use studio monitors or professional headphones, so be sure to check your mix on much references as you can.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Electronic, Pop-Rock, Folk. But these days im working mainly in Electronic based music like Tropical House, Electro Pop, Chill, and other sub genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: One of my strongest skills is to have studied audio engineer, to know different music styles and to apply those knowledge in all my productions.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I put into the songs the sound that should be, if the song has a 90's vibe, i will not try to force it to current sound, why? if the song was made with a specific age in mind, why to change it. That's one of the most important things for me at the time to make a song or to work in a production.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Im constantly changing my setup, i love to try different gear for my productions and that way give a unique sound to my productions. Now im working 100% digital with great plugins sets from Waves, Native Instruments and others.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have traveled through a lot of different music styles and genres. So i have different inspirations from Pink Floyd, Focus, Hendrix, Deep Purple from the classic side, and Chicane, Attom, Kygo, and others from the modern side.
