Susanne Winters

Vocalist

I'm a versatile, trained vocalist and vocal coach. I've had lead roles in musical theatre, worked with Small&Tall as a background singer, toured with local bands as a vocalist and taught singing in the past decade. I'm also working on my own solo project.

My voice has been described as silky, smooth, deep and passionate. I'm proud of my versatility, the fact that I can sing many styles and capture the essence and emotion of any song.
I've been working as a professional vocalist and vocal coach for more than 10 years now, I have experience in most styles and I have worked with all kinds of producers and songs ranging from blues to pop, EDM, musical theatre or rock.
My aim is to provide quality, professional work tailored to the project I'm working on. I provide high quality, fast turnaround and my unique voice.

Interview with Susanne Winters

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: Everything, really. This has been my dream since I was a child and I love every minute of it.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: That if someone isn't out of tune means they are good vocalists. Singing is a complex thing and a good vocalist should be able to capture multiple styles and emotions, not just technically good vocals.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: What kind of vocals, emotions and singing style are you looking for?

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Don't be afraid to ask questions if you like a vocalist. Maybe they didn't include everything in their profile but can do what you're looking for. The worst that can happen is they say no.

  9. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  10. A: Just a guitar an I'm good :) I would take a piano but I'm afraid it wouldn't be very practical in this situation..

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I studied singing in Budapest and got roles in musical theatre, started vocal coaching and providing vocals. I've been doing this since 2006.

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: My vocal style is versatile, and has been described as silky, smooth and I can capture a large range od emotions.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I'd love to work with Linnea Olsson because I'm in awe of her sounds, she's absolutely amazing.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Always record multiple times when recording vocals. It's amazing how different can one take be from another one a day later. Sometimes I'm not pleased with the result and I wait ans try again a day later and it will be perfect the first time.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I usually work on pop, EDM and rock.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: My versatility in the vocal department. I can sing metal or a soft ballad and my vocals will be perfectly matched to the song's atmosphere.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: I bring my unique voice and more than decade of knowledge of music and vocals.

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I read through the requirements a few times and listen to the provided audio. I then try to sing the vocals and record it so I can spot the mistakes and correct them. Finally I record the whole song a few times.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I have a small home studio with a Rode NT-1 microphone, but also have access to a full professional studio if needed.

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Freddie Mercury is and always has been my greatest inspiration. His vocal mastery is and will continue to be unmatched.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: There are many amazing artists who think they can't sing or want to have a different voice on their tracks, that's when I come in and do the vocals for them.
