Lisa Marie Harris on SoundBetter

The Jessica Rabbit of Pop/Rock magic who delivers World-Class studio vocals all over the planet with Analog Tone that's Bad-To-The-Bone... If Stevie Nicks and Shirley Manson discovered that they were non-identical twins separated at birth and that their real mom was Amy Lee.

I've been lucky enough so far in life to have pursued my passions professionally and enthusiastically within the musical arts of singing, writing, and dance. I've been singing on stages to crowds all over the world since I was a little girl and have spent countless hours in studios all over Europe and America singing for clients as well as for my own musical acts. My microphone is basically an extension of my arm! I've been featured in magazines, calendars, TV shows in Europe, and on stages with some of the best musicians on the planet. Singing is where I find my purpose!

I grew up speaking English and German and am 100% fluent in both languages. I sing on tracks in both languages from all over the world and am incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about each and every job I take, carefully incorporating any instructions or guidance the client relays to me regarding their vision for each and every job.

I track all my vocals with world class gear (1176's, LA2A's, Neve 1073's) and ultra high-end mics (U-87's, U47's, U67's) in various studios throughout Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Vienna, and London. I've written songs and recorded professionally for just about every kind of genre possible and would love to work with you to help make your vision become a reality. Satisfaction guaranteed on every single song!!! I'm very open to anything so give me a shout!

Lisa is one of the Most amazing performers and humans I have met. Beside her natural beauty and skills as a great singer, dancer, performer... modeling, acting... you name it.
What makes Lisa and everything she brings to the table so special , is her soul, her love and her raw passion that is seen and felt immediately! THIS is what I call ... the FULL package. I have been in this industry all my life but it is very rare to still find talents like her. All this external beauty is equally carried with her internal beauty, understanding , artistry, love and kindness!
One of a kind! Lisa Marie

I've had the privilege of working with Lisa Marie on multiple projects in multiple studios in multiple countries and I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that she is absolutely one of the most talented and gifted singers I've ever come across. Everything she touches absolutely shines. Her voice and the soul that she has brought to every project I've worked with her on has been unequaled and unrivaled. Truly magical vibes. I would use her for every single thing I do if it were possible!!! I highly, highly, highly recommend working with Lisa Marie if you get the chance!!!

Interview with Lisa Marie Harris

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm proud of every single project I've ever done! I give every single project my ALL so that I can be proud of the finished product every single time. I wouldn't take a project on if I didn't feel I could do it justice to the point of being able to be proud of my work in the end. I'm 100% devoted to every single song I record.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm recording a variety of different projects at the moment...some of which are clients' projects and 2 of which are my own. Two clients have rock and pop/rock bands in LA that I'm lending my vocals to. A third client has a jazz/lounge act in Las Vegas that I'm singing on and performing in. I'm also recording the debut album for one of my own projects, Orchids Bloom.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Analog. All the way. While there are certain styles of music that need to sound digital, vocals, in any capacity, almost never do. There is no replacing the warm tone of real analog gear or the natural saturation that brings out the various harmonics in a vocal when run through proper, analog gear. It's what breathes life into an otherwise lifeless digital take. It's the untold essence in every magic act that the audience can never figure out.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I love helping people bring their creative visions to life and experiencing with them their joy and fulfillment of having their goals realized with each song. Having the power to create is truly magical.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That anyone can do it in their bedroom. Anyone CAN record a vocal in their bedroom and even get a nice sound on the surface. However, for a truly professional sound...the kind that makes it onto the radio, into the movies, and into the hearts of listeners, you really need the gear and a proper acoustically treated studio environment with an engineer to knows how to capture all the nuances that subconsciously massage our ears while maintaining the essence and tone of a professional, world-class recording.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Taking the client's instructions and directions and incorporating them into an accurate, honest, and passionate translation of what their vision is for each and every project.

  13. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  14. A: Give everyone a try!!! This platform is FULL of amazingly talented musicians and providers alike. Find someone you like and give them a try!

  15. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  16. A: I promise that you will be 100% satisfied with your results when we're done. We will do it until it's exactly what you want it to be. And...we'll have an amazing time doing it! :)

  17. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  18. A: Can you do it? My answer is "Absolutely." :)

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: What basic or detailed instructions do you have for me regarding what you're wanting this song to sound like, what you're wanting to achieve with the finished product, or what kinds of vibes are you aiming at?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Give it a try! As far as I go, I can guarantee you 100% satisfaction with the results...and all other providers should too.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: A U47, a Neve 1073, an LA2A, a Pultec, and a Lexicon PCM 96.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: My career path was and still is to record studio vocals for clients all over the world while working on my own personal projects. I've been doing this since I was a little girl and have been recording professionally now for years.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: I would LOVE to call myself a modern-day Jessica Rabbit of Pop/Rock, Alternative Rock, Blues and Jazz..... :) Or perhaps the product of what it would look like if Shania Twain and Shirley Manson discovered that they were non-identical twins separated at birth and that their real mom was Stevie Nicks after having been raised by Annie Lennox.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: I would LOVE to work with Jack White AND Lady Gaga on a project because of their seemingly endless well of creativity as well as their fresh and modern approach to each new project. They're always redefining the boundaries of what works and I find that to be incredibly attractive as an artist.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Always make sure your input signal is sitting just right on the way in with room enough to grow so that various forms of processing can be added later by the client while still maintaining the integrity of the original signal.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: I work on everything from Pop/Rock to Modern Rock, Jazz to Blues, Alternative to Pop, and Country to Swing.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Unrivaled passion, emotion, and attention to detail that breathes life into every track I sing on. I love bringing the soul out of every single song. I'll take the clients instructions and directions to heart and employ them efficiently and accurately in order to give the client exactly what they want.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I track either through a U47, a U87, a U67, or an AKG 414 straight into a Neve 1073 pre or an API pre (512 or 312) depending on the style of song I'm recording for the client. From there I can either go straight to tape or can run through a bypassed Pultec for that added tube warmth. I'll often use an LA2A with the Peak Reduction turned either all the way down (effectively no compression) or very far down (very little tube compression) for yet that additional added warmth and sonically pleasing character. I have other pieces of gear that I'll use from time to time depending on the client's requests or requirements and depending on what the song entails. I'll then bounce down WAVs completely dry and un-processed in any capacity so that the client maintains full creative control on how they prefer the files to sound.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I track either with a U47, a U87, a U67, or an AKG 414 straight into a Neve 1073 pre or an API pre (512 or 312) depending on the style of song I'm recording for the client. I'll then bounce down WAVs completely dry and un-processed in any capacity so that the client maintains full creative control on how they prefer the files to sound.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm very much inspired by the vocal approaches of Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, The Dead Weather, and Alison Mosshart. I'm also incredibly inspired by the creativity of Jack White in all of his projects, Danny Elfman's style of composing, and Lady Gaga's endless creativity.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I record Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals, Harmonies, Stacks, Ad Libs, etc for my clients more than anything else. Usually they present a song they've written, composed, or produced with some guide vocals and some instructions as to their vision and I learn and record their song based on that.
