Mikah is a very talented and experienced musician/engineer! He was very patient with my specific requests and worked diligently to finish the job. My masters turned out awesome and balanced! He helped achieve what I looked for, and especially, the vibe I looked for. Definitely give him a shot if you're looking for someone to give your songs the final touch!

Interview with HONÜ
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I rather not... Lets chat in person
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: An album
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: No
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both!!! Why hold yourself to one style when every record deserves to have their own color and process.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That once I am finished with your record it'll be the best sounding record to date.. I can promise that
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Bringing other peoples records to life!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What is my price.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: People think I just adjust levels and wallah! the record sound perfect... No... There is so much that goes into a professional mix down its not even funny... I don't know where to even begin.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How long have you been producing, what are your goals with the record, is there a backstory to the record and whats your budget and timeframe.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look at what engineers past work sounds like because every engineer has their own style and its up to the artist to determine what style they are going for with the record.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Audio Interface Computer Headphones Microphone Generator
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I would love to become a full time producer/engineer for a label or even build a big enough client base to work for myself. I have been doing this for 5 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Aggressive yet soothing when it needs to be.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Eminem.... He was my childhood inspiration
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Never follow the rules... Learn them and then break it.. its the only way you'll develop a style of your own.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Electronic, Pop, hip Hop, Lo-Fi
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am very proud of how strong my ears are in detecting certain frequencies and how to balance them out so the record translates well to all types of sound systems.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: LIFE! Without a clean and dynamic mix your record will sound dry, dull and plain ole boring... a professional mix down is everything in this day and age especially with how much music is being created. You always want to stand out of the pack and make sure your records sound better then the rest!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I spent a full day going throughout these steps and make sure that all of these are checked off before going into the Mastering stage. Gain staging plug ins/VST and samples Additive & Subtractive EQ’ing Parallel compression for drums Glue/global Reverb Mono/ Stereo Reverbs Rhythmic compression Delays (mono & Stereo) Compression Pre Delays (calculate delay times) Sends/Returns NLS Bussing (analog Bussing) PUIG CHILD COLOR SSL COMP Volume automation Panning/Imaging Tonal Balance
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with a Toft console along with an Avalon compressor. I have hardware emulation gear as well as some analog hardware gear that helps with bringing a certain color to records if needed.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am very inspired by Quincy jones, Michael Jackson, Eminem, ACDC, and various electronic producers.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a professional audio engineer meaning that I do all of the dirty work for a song once the production/ creative stage is complete. I typically receive in stems of the project from a client and will implement technique iv learned throughout my years of engineering in order to get the record ready to publish.
