Audio Engineering student seeking portfolio work; favouring mixing projects.

I am an Audio Engineering and Music Production student at SAE Vancouver. at the moment, I am offering free mixing, recording, and production in the spirit of diversifying my portfolio.

Projects that involve mixing and editing music/audio will be favoured, however, I am also apt to take on recording and production projects. Mixing and editing projects may be remote or local.

Recording and production projects can be executed at the campus studio, my in-home work station, or venue of clients' choosing.

  1. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  2. A: Be specific, be patient, be honest, and let's make something awesome.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: I am a ProTools certified audio engineering student. At Ground 0, my long term goal is to create a body of work I can look back on and say "That was awesome, what's next?"

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: Kenny Carkeet. He's an artist, sound engineer, producer, and magician. He's a creative who has technical knowledge; my inspiration for my career.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Seek advice, take breaks, and listen to your EARS. At the end of the day, all that matters is the sound.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: My favourite genre is indie/psych rock. However, I love every genre, at all experience levels, and am looking to diversify.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: Mixing

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Attention to detail.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: This depends on the session, client, and job. My work ethic is "get it done". I request mentorship and advice from my instructors, and network of audio professionals. In the spirit of growth, I approach each project confidently, but actively seek inojt from my clients, and my network.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: Studio: ProTools HD, C24, comprehensively aucoustic treated and soundproof studio and control room, range of professional plug-ins, surplus of recording equipment, drumkit, guitars, piano, MIDI keyboards, bass guitars... 2 edit suites for comping and small recording projects... can't give away all our secrets! In home: ProTools 10, Senehessier HD280, Audio Technica headphones and speakers, M-Audio Mbox, Oxygen 49, Roland Keytar, basic guitar, bass, audio technica condenser mic.

  20. A: Kenny Carkeet (AWOLNATION, Fitness, and more...), Portugal. The Man, Lady Gaga, Tame Impala, The Growlers, FKA Twiggs, Julian Casablancas/The Strokes, TV on The Radio, Bad Company, Pink Floyd, MF Doom, G-Eazy, Led Zeppelin, Foxygen....

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: Mixing, recording, and production. Additional work in songwriting, production assisting, editing, comping, post-production, and game audio.

At this moment, I am working for experience only. Turn around time is subject to revisions. I will cap revisions to 10, with leniency granted to arduous projects/clients.
