Fingerstyle acoustic guitar and tasteful electric guitar playing. I love working on other artists songs by setting myself onto the journey of finding the right textures and sounds for them. It's one of the most fun things in music for me!
Due to my experience as an engineer and producer i'm able to craft sounds specifically to a projects needs. I have a great variety of outboard gear and microphones at my hands. I'm using it every day in a well treated room and that enables me to give the right amount of detail to the sound to any given performance.

Ivo is incredible. He was able to masterfully create an arrangement for me by ear and then teach me how to play it on a video. Just a wonderful collaborator and musician. Thanks dude!

Ivo was exceptional to work with! Very impressive, he managed to encapsulate the right kind of sound I was hoping for. Even some slightly odd timing and rhythm I'd requested was captured, in fact everything was played correctly with some perfect skills, beautiful guitars and musicianship. Thank you so much, Ivo!

Ivo recorded lead acoustic guitar plus some electric guitar embellishments for a song we are working on. All we sent Ivo was the track with the lead vocal soloed, and Ivo delivered multiple takes with different approaches - all were nuanced, expressive and musical, and his mics and recording setup sounds amazing! We would definitely love to work with Ivo again in the future.
Interview with Ivo Vollering
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of Philip Zdar (Phoenix, Cassius) - His style of production and mixing is inspiring and so musical to me.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Indie and folky music, sometimes EDM and hip hop
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I try to listen to the artist and the song material and ask questions as long as it takes to be confident that I got what I'm supposed to do. Then start working focused and with attention to detail.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a nice sounding room I work in PMC monitor speakers and a Apollo x16 and the Apollo twin. The API Lunchbox is equipped with RND, Capi and Shadow Hills Pre's and EQ's and Compressors Electric Guitar recording: Different guitar amplifiers and speakers combined with a decent resource of effect pedals provide a huge variety of sounds. To be recorded with SM7, SM57, Coles 4038, R88a and Shadow Hills DI. Acoustic Guitar recording: I prefer M/S recording on acoustics, but can offer any other style as well. With the Voxorama M36 in the middle you get the real wooden tone of the acoustics. Recently I started using the AEA R88a on acoustic guitars - amazing!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Find a strong arrangement for your song first. Make it sound interesting with just one instrument and vocals and then go from there production wise.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: New ideas and sounds and a nice workflow with the client
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Finding new possible sounds and textures with guitars and synth
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Writing and arranging songs together with other artists.
