I'm a Brooklyn Bred Producer, Engineer, Singer & Songwriter with a Studio suite at NYC's premiere recording studio, Engine Room Audio. I'm proficient in crossover R&B and Hiphop genres and have worked with the likes of Mobb Deep, Q -Tip, M.O.P., The Roots, Spencer Ludwig, Frans Mernick, Siangie Twins, Travis Mendes and Bria Lee, to name a few.
Specializing in crossover styled R&B, Soul, Hip Hop and Pop music, I offer tiered services for every step of the process, from demo production and vocals to the final mixed and mastered project. The entire process is done in-house via my studio suite at Engine Room Audio, located downtown in NYC's Financial District (Easy to reach by subway), with an extensive network of other artists and industry professionals of its own. Coming from a heavily percussive foundation as drummer, I'm proficient in the many aspects of todays rhythm driven crossover/ pop music, and I'm most known for infusing a soulful essence into my production and songwriting approach.
I offer competitive pricing and I am willing to work with a tight budget, if the talent and commitment are the right fit. I love what I do and love to help bring talented peoples visions to life, especially while sharing my knowledge with young and less experienced artists/ producers throughout the process. Reach out today for your projects consultation, and let's see where we can take your vision!

Interview with Johnny Burgos
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to get to know my clients a little and try to connect with them on a personal level so I can have the best understanding of how they see their vision coming to life.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My Engine Room suite has a real cozy and safe vibe that allows all the vulnerability into the creative process, with lots of instruments to inspire every new idea. Vocal booth is built into the suite in such a way that feels very inclusive to the existing suite, with temperature control! My rig is designed for maximum workflow in a vocal tracking and midi production setting, and the computer is built to handle both simultaneously. I mainly compose/ produce via midi in protools so I can track vocal ideas as I go, or vise versa, when tracking vocals is the priority.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Oh man, I'm really inspired by anyone making honest and vulnerable music that has an accessibility to it that appeals to a broad audience. Some of my favorite newer artists right now are H.E.R., Anderson Paak, JMSN, Khruangbin, Cautious Clay, Lucky Daye, SiR, Rayvn Lenae, Goldlink and Teyana Taylor to name a few. And of course the classics like anything Motown, Quincy Jones, Curtis Mayfield, MJ, Usher, D'Angelo, J Dilla, JT, Badu, Lauryn Hill, Raphael Saadiq, etc...
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: There really isn't a more common type of gig for me, it really depends on the clients needs, which vary with each one. I'd say I do a lot of vocal production and tracking with clients lately, mainly so I can coach them through the best performance possible and make my job of comping and tuning a lot easier. I also work on a lot of original instrumentals on my own time to have ready to pitch to clients when they ask, which I collaborate a lot on with my network of talented musicians.
