Session Guitarist / Producer

I believe that emotionally-driven mix decisions create the “goosebump” moments in music. A technical approach to engineering is how it starts, but when I compose and mix, I am decisive and clearheaded in my creative decision-making.

Based in ATX, Future Zero Studios is the project space for lead producer and session guitarist Marshall Benson. The studio is equipped with high-end microphones, pre-amps, and compressors capable of capturing 'the magic'. Acoustically-recorded as well as programmed drums are a Future Zero specialty, with special attention paid to creating a massive drum sound. DAW control is performed in Ableton Live, which lends itself to a modern, electronic music-like texture to the productions.

Future Zero also offers compositional arrangement of guitar parts; lead melodies and solo spots are available on a quick turn-around.

Looking for sound design? The studio also sports a mixture of analog/subtractive, FM, PCM, and sample-based synthesizers.

Future Zero also offers overdub and vocal recording in an acoustically-treated space using high-end AKG condenser mics in combination with API and Manley pre-amps patched into a Focusrite Thunderbolt interface.
