Damir Puh on SoundBetter

World-class mixes & masters. Modern approach. Fast turnaround. Artist-friendly rates.

My goal is to provide each client with an experience that rivals much bigger and more established mixing and mastering engineers. Sounding "professional" is not good enough - that's just the bare minimum. What really matters is how your music moves people, and I'm here to help you maximize the impact of the tracks you've worked so hard at!

My background as an artist and guitarist who's produced and released original music, gives me valuable knowledge and experience in all phases of the music creation process. Every project is treated differently, processed thoroughly and is tailored to the artists' needs.

Career Highlights:

- Multiple worldwide guitar and music production competition awards – Six String Theory Rock Guitar Winner, Guitar Idol 4 Finalist, Live4Guitar Contest Winner, Ratemymix Top-6 selection, etc. Some of the judges in the competitions included Joe Satriani, Steve Lukather, Lee Ritenour, Guthrie Govan, Doug Aldrich, Warren Huart etc.
- Co-wrote, Performed on, Produced and Mixed “Exposure” by Station: Innermost, featuring Derek Sherinian as a guest keyboardist
- Produced, Mixed and Mastered multiple National Radio Top-10 songs
- Endorsed by Mercuriall Audio Software & DiMarzio Pickups

Interview with Damir Puh

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: Heavy Rock, Metal, Pop, Electronic, Progressive, Soundtrack

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Hybrid! Mixing in the box is the present and the future, but recording a big, fat signal through a couple of good hardware pieces helps a lot. I like tubes & transformers to capture sounds, bits&bytes to manipulate it.

  5. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  6. A: "What makes you the perfect choice for the job?" - Great ear, attention to detail, vision, experience and gear. I'm extremely dedicated and passionate about music and I treat every project like my own. As an artist who's releasing and performing music internationally on a regular basis, I know exactly what it takes. "Do you cover other musical styles besides rock/metal?" - Yes! I've successfully worked on many projects outside rock music, including classical, reggae, electronic, jingles, soundtracks, etc... Every project you're about to send my way probably won't be the first for me in that style or category. "Why are you so cheap?" - By keeping my expenses down. I live in Skopje, where the cost of living is lower than the Europe average so I can keep my rates down as well. I also own the real-estate where my studio is, so no rent expenses as well.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Having a clear and strong musical vision, the ability to hear & see the final result before it's done and the patience and work ethic to do whatever it takes to get there.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: That they'll leave my studio (or online...space?) completely satisfied. 100%. No exceptions.

  11. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  12. A: Do it right at every stage of the production. No "fix it later" mentality. Take your time, do it right, commit to the sound and move on.
