Hi my name is Cholo from Manila, Philippines. I currently run a project home studio called 15D Studios. It's a Post Prod Audio Facility (Mix and Master only) just outside the business district in Metro Manila. I love combining the sound of vintage equipment with the convenience of new plugins and digital gear.
Hifi Mixes, Lofi Mixes. We like em wide and clear with the main quest on achieving DEPTH. I always try to get that "3d" sound. That is the true goal. I would love to help you out on your next process in the production by offering my MIXING, MASTERING or even MIDI REPLACEMENT services to help get the "sound in your head" and maybe a little bit more!
On the midi production side, I always try to apply what is reasonable. I can replace the patches with my current library and make it sound as sweet as possible. You know how it is!
I attended Mix with the Masters in France and studied under Al Schmitt & Steve Genewick (Capitol Studios L.A.) and a year later under Tchad Blake. I'm heavily influenced by the mixing styles of Manny Marroquin and Tchad Blake. I specialize in Indie and Hip-hop. 10+ years of professional experience in the local scene.

Endorse Cholo HermosaCholo was able to execute and enhance my vision for my debut single as an artist. As a mixing and mastering engineer, he's equipped with top of the line knowledge, skills, and experience. He prioritizes your vision and quality of the sound, and overall he was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend his services.
Cholo mixed and mastered my band's debut album. He also co-produced it. We were very happy with the outcome. He made the album sound cleaner than we expected. He was also very easy to work with. Would recommend him for mixing and mastering.
Interview with Cholo Hermosa
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of what we were able to achieve with Quest's Dream Awake album. The project was recorded, mixed and mastered in 15D Studios. I was heavily involved in the production and making the record come to life. Also proud of the recent Yolanda Moon releases because aside from the current pandemic, we were able to push further with ideas even if everyone in the team is working remotely.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Just recently finished our 4 song mini album for Yolanda Moon. We're exploring disco now and i'm quite excited! The first song is coming out on August 7, 2020!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, ATC Speakers, Apogee, Avantone mix cube, and a decent mic.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I love working with contrasts. Hifi is a strong suite in my mixes but I always try to juxtapose it with saturation to make you appreciate the "depth and size" of the mixes I bring.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Would love to virtually travel to all countries and meet different musical cultures! There is so much to explore!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: These days people keep coming back to our studio (locally) because of our Mastering. Aside from that, 2nd thing people come back for is Mixing since I was able to learn a lot from attending Mix with the Masters back in 2016 and 2017. Lastly, Drums! Grew up and worked as a drummer in my early professional life and it proved to be quite helpful from production up to mastering!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Commit to your idea! Don't back out midway of your musical vision because the song will suffer!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: These days it's mostly hip-hop and indie rock (saturation!).
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My main post-production studio features a hybrid approach. An in the box front-end with my Apogee Symphony mkii and ATC speakers then as I go "out of the box" I have a bunch of "colors" to choose from like Manley Vari-Mu, IGS-Stype bus, Rupert Neve or JDK!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Not relevant these days. I say both! Hybrid approach! Get the best of both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: It will definitely sound bigger than your pre-mix track!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to work on music.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: It's never a one type question and I'm happy because there is no one size fits all when it comes to music.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Up to some extent, is that we can save poorly arranged songs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you trying to achieve? What is your working budget? How can I help you?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure everything is ready to go.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Started as a singed artist (drummer) and worked as a hired gun as well when I was 18. I eventually got a music degree (AB-Music Production) when I got signed as a singer-songwriter under the name Yolanda Moon. In 2016 I got in Mix with the Masters a renowned seminar held in Studio La Fabrique, France under the mentorship of the main engineers at Capitol Studios, Al Schmitt and Steve Genewick. After that lifechanging seminar I eventually developed my studio 15D Studios in Manila, Philippines.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I always try to impress the artist and make them hear what they were missing with their song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Clean, Enhance and make the sound DEEP and jump out of the speakers at the same time..
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love the mixes of Manny Marroquin, Tchad Blake, Al Schmitt, Jaycen Joshua and Mike Dean.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mostly post production (mixing and mastering). I do own a Loding Recording Studio (15D Studios) so occasionally, I record local artists staying in.
