Interview with Illusive Records
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have worked on many genres, but my most recent types are metal, jazz/pop, and alternative.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask about their budget. Of course making music costs money, but I want you to be comfortable with what you spend. Knowing your budget upfront helps me to determine what exactly I can help you with.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My favourite genres are metal and rock, so I tend to bring some grit into songs that I work on. I usually find that guitar can fit in almost anywhere to fill in a song of any genre, so I'll usually try to work that in.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly work on full productions. Clients come in with an infant song that I help them refine and build to their creativity. Once we have the genre and instrumentation determined, we get to work recording, and then I go to work mixing and mastering.
