Interview with Antonio Enzo Mazzeo
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: It is too long a question to explain in a few lines. I am of the opinion that both have to be there because they both have pros and cons.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I implicitly promise not to disappoint expectations
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like to see the amazement of the client in hearing his song completely different
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: They often think that sound engineers are something superfluous (especially in classical music, accustomed to live concerts), or they think that we are the ones who destroy the music of others. it is only true when you have chosen the wrong, not professional or not specialized sound engineer.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Where do you want me to play your song? What music do you usually listen to? What or who were you inspired by? Can you send me something that sounds good to you?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: ach sound engineer has their own way of listening and making music perceived, therefore, everyone will hear something different and bring it out. Try to understand how he listens.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this professionally since 2017, before, I used personal production as a technical test. I studied rock electric guitar (2003 - 2015) together with engineering at the university. Now I am enrolled in the "Sound Engineering" course in the conservatory to expand my knowledge of cultured electroacoustic music
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I always try to assert my style and my sound in all the musical genres I work with. I generally have a vintage approach.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: of course! gladly!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work in classical music, Rock and Pop Music but I know very well metal, experimental music, progressive.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I don't have a magic formula that solves every situation that arises. I solve it if there is to be solved!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I have to know the customer and his sound and musical tastes, then we work together so that the result is perfect.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialized in music production, Recording, Editing, Mixing, Mastering. My work is closely with artists, I help them in the arrangements so that the songs express the maximum. Besides, I work as Microphone Engineer in classical events and I'm looking for rooms with different acoustics.
