I produce pop, indie, and Americana songs at an affordable rate from my home studio 20 minutes from downtown Nashville. Every day I help artists realize their creative dreams and bring their music to life like they never imagined!
I produce, record, mix and master songs from start to finish for artists of all genres. As a keyboard player, bassist, drummer, guitarist and vocalist I have the tools to bring songs to life all from my home studio. I also regularly collaborate with a dream team of Nashville's finest session musicians for any kind of sound we may need to make your song soar like it should.
I grew up in Decatur, Alabama and moved to Nashville about 10 years ago. Since then, I've grown my career in lots of directions. I'm regularly on tour with Colbie Caillat as a keyboard player currently, and spend my time at home recording local and national artists full time.
In the last few years I've produced over 50 songs and the list is ever growing. I work most in pop, indie, and Americana but am no stranger to my soul, country and rock roots!

Interview with Alex DeVor
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be as specific as possible with your references and notes. I'm in the business of making these songs exactly what you dreamed of - or better.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: So much can be done with so little these days, it's awesome! I'd bring a laptop, my Focusrite 8preX interface, my Neumann TLM102 mic, a good midi controller, and my focal monitors.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing piano since I was 6, and I started working on music for myself when I was 17 in my bedroom at my parents' house. I moved to Nashville at 19 and have been working here as a musician / producer for almost 10 years!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I come from playing old-soul keyboard and rock music in clubs, but as a producer I'm big into dark alt-pop vibes and intimate acoustic guitar vulnerability
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with Ariana Grande. I love how much agency she takes in her vocal production and her flavor of pop-R&B is right up my alley!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Cut a piece of your lead vocal, print it through a ridiculous reverb (think like 30 seconds), reverse that, then trim it and add a fade in to make a cool vocal-flavored riser. I do this ALL the time.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: This year it's been a lot of pop and indie / folk. I love working on singer/songwriter, R&B, Americana and Country too!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I started as a keyboard player and vocalist. That foundation helps me understand songs instinctively and completely, which helps me work fast and creatively at a moment's notice.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Production is all about filling in space in an arrangement - or choosing not to. As a musician, vocalist, and mix engineer I love to use all of my tools to bring energy and vibe to everything my clients give me the joy of working on.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I do a 4-day song production, I do 1 day of instrumental production, 1 day of vocal recording, 1 day of editing and extra tracking, and 1 day of mixing / mastering.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work out of my project studio in nashville. It's a simple 2-room setup with a treated extra bedroom-turned-booth and a control room with a lot of in-the-box tools to get the job done. It's simple and I make all kinds of records out of here!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm a huge fan of Serban Ghenea, Greg Kurstin, Shawn Everett and Blake Mills.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I do 4-day song productions for my clients most often, as well as one-of mixes and masters. Otherwise I do a lot of work as a keyboard player around nashville, playing on sessions and touring!
