Interview with Rodrigo Bacchini
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My computer, my studio monitors, my ua apollo, my neumann u87 and good cables! besides my ears
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started working on this a little over 10 years ago. When I started with my own recording studio.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Artists of different genres, who make music in different languages. To be able to expand my experience with music and help people all around the world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always have to give much importance to pre-production and rehearsals
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I like to hear what the song has to say. Then I try to transmit that emotion from the audio
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First of all I like to listen to the raw song. Afterwards I spend a good time organizing the session so I can streamline my workflow. I correct what needs to be edited. Later I concentrate on each element being in the place it has to be, always highlighting the virtues of the song and the arrangements.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have two universal audio apollo quad as the heart of my studio. I work with protools 2019 and have several class a preamps and mics for recording.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: What I do most is editing, mixing and mastering. I also record for several local artists
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Many think that recording a song is something very simple and that only takes a couple of hours.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask them what they want to transmit with the songs that we will work
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I invite you to get in touch and consult me what you need. I am at your disposal
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I characterize myself for having a rather rock and punishing style. I think the drum audio is a strength in me
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Pop-Rock, Indie
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think I can make the strongest points of each song stand out.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by all the productions that have something new to show, that are exciting to listen to and above all that are great songs.
